Enjoyed this a lot more than the piece with Urasawa, mainly because Maeda's responses were much more fleshed out and thoughtful.
I wonder if I should contact him the next time I'm in Tokyo. The Tentacle Master seems like an interesting dude. |

I'm frankly shocked that someone from Japan wasn't afraid to call out movies/comics/television shows are idiotic, pandering bullshit. From my outsider's perspective, it doesn't seem like enough open and direct criticism ever gets said about anything in Japan, at least not by co-workers or peers.

Fascinating to find this older interview here. Man that man´s work is truly the worst and some of it is even banned in Australia, Germany or the UK. Well i know why but Hunger Games as controversial? That one is a great empowerment fantasy and was well received by moral watch dogs. Maybe because it it´s misogyny an an empowerment fantasy.
Maeda you did enough and i find it interesting to note that it wasn´t really addressed that his manga focus on rape of school girl / virgins for the most part or that the tentacle marker collapsed but oh well. He is also one of the people who gave us futanari so good riddece to old rubbish. |
