this release is awesome. i thought it would be just another Square-Enix cash-in, but it genuinely is a better movie now. they added a whole bunch of new scenes, so that it actually makes sense, even if you haven't played the games. also the quality's excellent.

Did Nanaki/Red XIII get a little more screen-time?
In the original, he barely got any time at all, which is a shame because he's among my favourite characters.

he was such a badass at the end of ff7, why does he keep talking to aeris? spoiler[she's dead!] same with Zach.

Egad. The lack of a spoiler tag in your original post has just spoilt the game for me. This is just like the time somebody told me the ending of Soilent Green...
(I jest.)

I know WHY it sold so well.
(1) Its a complete series
(2) Its on sale for only 3591 yen
(3) Comparable BD discs sell for 7980 yen for 2 episodes

And they wondered why it sold 100k copies...

PRICE PRICE PRICE

that's it in a nutshell...

I guarantee you that the version that sold the most did NOT cost 3591 yen Laughing

I'm curious to know how the Japanese track sales. Is it by what's actually rung up at the register or by how many copies the retailer orders?

I'm only going to rent this movie, the same as I did Not!Complete. The story is threadbare and silly, but it makes for a decently entertaining music video.

For all those features it sold at that price? Holy Jesus! Anyway, I am a fan of FF7, but not a fan boy. I'm not fond of plot less movies with little character usage and development that manages to sell it self by pretty much ripping off action sequences from the Matrix Trilogy, Dragon Ball, and Rurouni Kenshin.

I really wonder how much the FFXIII demo figured into those sales.

We will find out when the cheaper, but demo-less copy hits over here.

I agree with this. Macross Frontier and Geass R2 Blu-Ray are ridiculously expensive....

Completely true, but prices always go down (while in print anyway,) and at least they get the option of buying in Blu.

I've been hearing rumors that the Japanese release has English Audio, is it true?

I can't wait to experience this in Hi-Def! Very Happy
Now I only wish they'd release a FFXIII demo with the BD in America too!

Seriously? You have to wonder if being able to play Final Fantasy XIII had any impact on sales in Japan? Especially when the sales don't look anything at all like a Blu-ray release's and do look like a major game release's? REALLY?

As far as Japan is concerned, this is a Final Fantasy XIII demo that happens to have Advent Children bundled with it.

The release itself is a terrible upscale and only the new scenes are in HD.
Sony trolled the world.

Yes, it's true. However, there are no English subs for the JP audio track.

The disc is also region free, so those with PAL PS3's can still watch the movie (and play the demo, of course).
