so far my favorite thing about the anime is Kokia's KARMA...and the main girls VA. but it's still pretty interesting.

Can't say I've enjoyed the show from what I've seen. Never have been a fan of Bee Train's work...
Still, I'm all if favour of quick liceneses as long as a legal alternative is made available, ala these free streams.
Just a shame FUNi couldn't do the same with stuff like Soul Eater when they licensed them, which would have brought in much more cash than a bog standard show like this.

Ah, this is great. Now I can watch the show without feeling in the least bit guilty for my wicked fansub ways, and I can look forward to eventually seeing Phantom stateside. Thanks, Funimation!
Very Happy

Personally, I get a bit annoyed when people continually compare this to Noir/Madlax/etc. I'm not saying the comparison doesn't have some merit (Mashimo just seems to have a thing with the girl assassin stories), but the original Phantom actually predates them all. The visual style does deviate from the source material (which irked me at first but I've warmed considerably to it). With the exception of the assassination in the first episode (which is really just a hook for viewers), the story is practically following the source material directly, and with some parting shots in the first episode seems ready to keep on track throughout the entire series.

Yeah, the big distinction is that Phantom is an adaptation, whereas the previous shows were Mashimo originals. This isn't part of his "girls with guns" set.

ISP maskers.

That's precisely where the "at least in theory" part comes in.

Either way, that doesn't actually change the principle behind the entire thing, or does it? Still, I suppose it's pointless to argue anymore.

Yes.

Thanks for supporting legal ad supported streams. Revenue from the commercials running before our streams are split between FUNimation and our Japanese licensor.

Watching ad supported online streaming helps fund more anime from Japan and from FUNimation.

Thanks,

Hey Lance! Why no love for the UK and Europe? We want to buy FUNimation and Japanese things too.

And Jarmel, why "ugh"? Funimation's stream of the new FMA series has been really good - way better than what you'd get on, say, Crunchyroll.

Actually it has not been licensed, I asked FUNimation on their twitter.

The Funi rep just said it was licensed on the previous page.

Perhaps that just means it's been licensed for streaming but not for DVD distribution (yet)?

Lance, great to hear from you and thanks for the confirmation. I'm more than willing to head over to Funi.com (and if I have to watch ads) to support you guys for Phantom. Previously I haven't used your site (there really hasn't been much interesting anime to me lately). I was wondering, is there a rough estimate of how long after the episode airs in Japan that it will be available on Funi.com to watch?

Thanks,
'Phantom-Fanatic' Cool

Well, if today is to set precedent, they had the episode available for streaming before the episode even aired in Japan.

That means we were the first to see it, awesome!

Ah, I'm not used to separating the two yet. To me, licensed means DVD.

This has not been licensed, they only have the rights to stream it as I asked the Rep on twitter.
