I couldn't agree with the first post more. I loved the show and would love to take Crunchyroll's release as a good chance to rewatch it, but I don't know if I'll be able to considering the ending was all I thought about for 2 weeks after seeing it. It was pretty traumatizing.
That being said, props to Crunchyroll. I'm glad they will be giving those who haven't seen School Days a legal chance finally. It really is a fantastic show, but it does leave you in a state of depression

"Catchphrase"? Nice vocabulary fail. It's a "meme". Get with the times ANN and update your writers with modern (and more appropriate) words.

I've been interested in seeing this one so I'm happy. CR and I can get to know each other better as some of these recent series start up on there.

This is not just school days. This is EVERY series that marvelous owns the full rights for. They're just starting with school days. Basically, crunchy just licensed every single things that marvelous owns. That doesn't guarantee that everything will be streamed, but it's pretty close.
From ANN's list, taking out things that are already licensed (I might have missed one), this could include:
Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka (TV) : Production
Bokura ga Ita (TV) : Production
Capeta (TV) : Production
Ginyuu Mokushiroku Meine Liebe wieder (TV) : Production
Happiness! (TV) : Production
Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho (TV) : Production
Koihime†Musō (TV) : Production
Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo - Youkoso Tsugumi Ryouhe (TV) : Production
Myself ; Yourself (TV) : Production
Peach Girl (TV) : Production
Prism Ark (TV) : Production
School Days (TV) : Production
School Days: Magical Heart Kokoro-chan (OAV) : Distributor
Shin Koihime†Musō: Otome Ryōran Sangokushi Engi (TV) : Production
Shura no Toki: Age of Chaos (TV) : Production
Strawberry Panic! (TV) : Production
Sugar Sugar Rune (TV) : Production
Tantei Gakuen Q (TV) : Production
Whistle! (TV) : Production |
Peach Girl is FUNi, Strawberry Panic! is Media Blasters. |
Note the word "Production" next to all the titles; Marvelous Entertainment is the Japanese producer; FUNi and Media Blasters are just American licensing companies.

And just because Marvelous was a producer doesn't mean that they own the master rights for the show, either. But it's some subset of this list, at any rate.

False, it came from 2chan. 4chan just adopted it's use as a meme.

I already bought the DVDs but I'm glad more peope will get to see it.
It's a fun ride and overall very faithful to the original game (though it does combine several game endings together to create the Ultimate Xtreme Ending™ that's more severe than anything in the game).

By my memory, the meme definitely started with 4chan (and various English-language blogs/forums) before the Japanese quickly picked up on it.

Yeah, I've always noticed how it was "Nice Boat." with the period always included. Besides, I saw the thread when it happened back then. They got it into ef quite quickly as well.

Am I weird for wanting to experience the chills from this once more? The last episode was the best,I found. Only because the main character got what he deserved. Even so,it was...just disturbing.Definitely not one of my favourite anime, but certainly worth watching (especially for the ending).

Yeah, thanks for posting that list, samuelp.
Keep in mind that all Marvelous needs is to still have the basic Master Rights that allow them to issue a digital distribution license to Crunchyroll.
LOL. CR is already streaming some series for free that are up for DTO at Funimation, like "Last Exile" for example....
FUNi can't be happy to hear about this Mavelous/Crunchyroll deal.
Shinji, and his team at CR, sure are keeping pressure on the market, forcing people like FUNi VIZ etc. to adapt/evolve.
It's all great fun for us online/stream Anime fans, though!
(which I believe CR has stated, time after time, to be one of their goals)

Haha sweet! I loved this anime, represents something different in a never ending saturation of pointless romantic comedies.
And Makoto and Sekai got what was coming to them
