Katanagatari never ranked in oricon at all so sales when the anime was airing were minimal. His source is likely from old 2ch estimates, the new number is quoted from an official promotion. Bakemonogatari sold like it did because of a few factors. Shaft's execution (which matched the style of Nishio), Nishio's popularity (Not so much from Bakemonogatari mind you) and it was exactly what otaku wanted. Bakemonogatari was also very different from his usual output which consisted of mostly mystery/pseudo-mystery novels with a manga edge so it likely divided his readers (his novels were basically mainstream novels so they reached a wider audience than a Light Novel). The anime brought in more of the audience who it appeals to. And it might not be big but the anime aired at a slightly earlier time than your average late night show. I think it was 10:30pm. That's not something you do with your standard anime, aniplex/kodansha obviously had some expectations. There is not much to say about Medaka Box, It isn't very good and is out of place in shounen jump. |

No... I'm saying that you don't know how amazing the manga is.. so you don't know why people have tons of well deserved hype for season 2. |

that is why the anime is bad same problem with nyaruko the next season is probably the best part of the medaka box series the next arc is where it turns into a battle anime after that it gets really weird and will turn many people off the current past arc is so tedious and full of text but if we dont make it to a season 3 we may not get to meet kumagawa which is the guy with the screws and most loveable character |

Medaka Box is done by Gainax and Nyarlko was done by Xebec, neither of which have to do with JC Staff. |
