Well, I'm still going to pick up Future Diary regardless of that review, since I know it gets better than said here.

Well, I only reason I keep reading past the first volume (or volume 0, whatever) of Dogs was for Badou and Mihai. The first volume is really boring, but it gets better later on.

ANYTHING can be better if you add zombies into it.

I liked Cherry Juice, but the rest of Fukushima's works, now including Orange Planet, are quite terrible.

Gothic Lolita is a clothing style, not a character type.

Lmao,that's a great comparison.
I'm definitely going to pick up the first volume of Mirrai Nikki (although I don't really like calling it "Future Diary"). I love it and have been waiting for someone to liscense it.

Oh man!
I experienced that whole "loss of composure" thing reading Hot Gimmick. Yelling insults at Hatsumi, cheering on Ryoki's amazingly self-centred logic, laughing to the point of tears ...
It was wonderful.
I wonder how old my kids have to be before I introduce them to this manga... woudn't want to cause any emotional trauma

Nah, the first episode covers the first manga so that's pretty much it for the "over-hyped maudlin drivel." IMHO at least. You'll have to catch the 2nd episode and manga to see for yourself.

Ouch, sounds like this was a bad week for manga. But I must admit, Hot Gimmick is one of my guilty pleasures too.

Am I the only one who suddenly got that song by Hanson stuck into their head upon seeing the subtitle "MmmBobobop" (Mmmbop?)

I am quite proud of myself for NOT getting that reference until just now

It really is utter crap with bondage issues but I too read the whole thing. Mostly because I was amazed they could create something like it for public consumption. At the time I hadn't read much manga and didn't realize how much of it bordered on fetishy porn.

I loved everything about Dogs, but esp. Mihai and Badou. Guess it takes all kinds.

Hot Gimmick has been interesting read to start, though after reading the first volume I have the feeling that quite a bit of what's going to happen is going to be predictable. I might take my time reading the rest of the series. Bobobo on the other I felt that the anime did a better job executing its gags than the manga did. Maybe that's why Sawai's next manga series didn't last that long either.
