This'll be a blind buy for me. I never have watched or read it, but just based on how much the fans have wanted this, and Right Stuf's quality releases, I'll buy this.

Thanks Nozomi!! You've made a LOT of fans really happy today!

In terms of the current fandom, I'd say Sailor Moon is the "holy grail" to North American or at least US fans (even though I personally don't care about Sailor Moon).

But regardless, the fact this license became a reality gives me much hope in the licenses for other shows I'm interested in that look tough to license in the US.

Why aren't we on page 10 yet? 30 minutes should be long enough to make it to page 10 with such a big and significant license announcement. I mean, it's only one of the best-known shoujo titles from the 70s that seemed like such an impossible long-shot to release in R1.

Is my annoyingly obsessive fan-love for this series showing too much?

aaaaaaaAAAAAA oh my gosh oh my gosh I am weeping gallons of gleaming tears while my hair streams around me and rose petals dance on the breeze and I am engulfed in a slightly fuzzy purple wallpaper and my doomed love interest is watching me while hiding behind a tree and uttering my name wistfully I AM SO HAPPY!

Oh I agree with you about the current fandom but when I got into anime...which was around 1998-ish (I don't remember) Versailles was the Holy Grail of Holy Grails. People were ANGUISHED and TORMENTED that it didn't come out on DVD when DVDs became a popular medium.

Okay probably exaggerating a lot but that's what I remember.

Going to buy the DVDs when they come out next year. Love this anime so much. About time good classic anime gets bought over. When I first watch it I would watch it 5 episodes at a time it was so good.

Sweet! This is one of those titles that needs to be released over here, and one that will make a lot of people happy. I hope it does well for Right Stuf.

(Okay a part of me wishes we had the manga instead, but I know that's not going to happen while the original creator is still alive. I will hold out hope and wait for it though.)[/i]

If TRSI had licensed say Kodomo no Jikan or Boku no Pico then yea I see the thread being 10 pages long in half an hour.

Never seen the show myself so my interest in the show as of now is zero. Maybe I will check it out in the future on Viki.

Je vous remercie, Nozomi. Doubtlessly this will cause a tumultuous flutter of éventails amongst particular admirers.

No. Effing. Way.

I saw their tease on twitter last night, but never thought this...wow.

This softens the blow of finding out Bakemonogatari will cost 150. Oh lordy, need to set aside some cash soon.

Edit: is it me, or are they using the same title font they used for Utena?
