I basically retired from fansubbing almost a year ago, man. You can give it a rest.

Someone please get this thread back on topic or let it die.

Because this is ANN. Any time something is even mentioned that may be tangentially related to fansubs, it's a case of "push button, receive drama".

I don't understand the purpose of sabotaging a company who is giving you like same day releases for free.

Anime fandom is in a wild place right now. Watching a 15 second commercial is considered to be way to expensive of a price to get a show. Fans going out of their way to make same day anime releases a total failure. I don't get it.

The One Piece one is the most tragic. That's like a Naruto level show that was going to be given away for free and anime "fans" sabotaged it. Now Funi has gone totally silent about the series. Mission accomplished I guess.

Hey, maybe it will come back some time soon. If that guy could really see OP404, then FUNi has it in their possession.

I doubt the anime would do well now in Japan. If so, there would be a revival like all the other older titles.

Maybe someone who actually watched ep. 10 could chime in. I'm in the middle of a home exam and haven't watched it yet

The manga had a revival recently, which only finished it's run last November.

i don't know about the tv ratings, but i'm curious why you don't think it's very good. i'm my personal opinion, it's one of the best shows of season.

I don't really ever like Bee Train's style unless .Hack// is involved anyway. This seaon has much better shows I think like Eden of The East, Basquash!, FMA Brotherhood etc

Steady on now, I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, I'm serious. With your knowledge and expertise, I believe FUNi could do with a bit expert help. Our MI5 use former hackers, as an example, and I wouldn't doubt so does the FBI and CIA. You should contact FUNi and offer your services at whatever consultancy fee agreeable. All they can say is "come on over", or "thanks, but no thanks" Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Wink

Revival in Japan is what matters (brings in the money). A revival in the US doesn't amount to anything. Did this title even make a list of top manga volumes in the US? There's no linkage that I could find on ANN to say otherwise.

ANN is a press. You know that press has to cover good, bad, and ugly.
You have point about discuss content of the any anime that people like to talk about. You're not only one who feels that the subject is off-topic. It's up to moderator to decide that subject is totally off-topic. Either you could start your own thread or seek another BBS/ Blog that actually discuss about Anime's content.

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL SUBJECT. Some fans are showing their concerns about the content security which affirms that Anime fandom is not filled with hypocrites and crooks. The current problem with Funimation and any other media company, is that too many hands have passed onto the original video before the leak. Culprit could be anyone from mail handler, receptionist, tech people, marketing folks, janitors, AV specialists, employee's kids, translators, interns and etc. It's likely that one of the people who are responsible for person-to-person transfer of the content got careless. So it's about time for them to upgrade their security and employee conduct to prevent future leaks.

We're not related so don't call me "son".

Being optimistic is a good thing.

Which is why I mentioned the revival (technically a sequel, I guess) in Japan. Burst finished serialisation last November in Afternoon.

The source of the 'leak' is pretty obvious. See here and here. Both the previous 'leak' and the most recent 'leak' were from the exact same security hole (i.e. the total lack whatsoever of even the most basic security).

What you call optimism, I call pseudo-intellectualism.

I never take the anime ratings seriously... They always lump the adult oriented shows in with the shows targeted at younger audiences, and 9 times out of 10 the shows aimed towards children are going to populate the top of ratings charts. It's the same reason American film makers cringe when they find out their film is opening the same weekend as a Disney film opens... They know their sales are going to take a hit from it.

Perfect example... CLAANAD: After Story... If you followed the DVD charts... The recently released 1st volume DVD stayed at number one for several weeks yet the show never even made the top 20 in the TV rankings... Actually... I think "maybe" the last episode might have squeaked into the top 20, but I can't recall for sure.

It surely doesn't take a genius to figure out that the tops shows are always the same (with exceptions here and there), and that if One Piece, Pokemon, Detective Conan, Dragonball, and Precure always occupy the top spots that it's children driving the ratings rather than adult viewers, and I doubt the kids are really that interested in Phantom.

As for my opinion on the topic at hand... I think it sucks... I headed to Funimation's site today ready to watch the new episode of Phantom only to find it not there. If this affects my ability to see the rest of the show I shall be very cross indeed... I'm already ticked off this week because of Anime Network getting dumped from Comcast before I got to see the last 4 episodes of Princess Resurrection... It's just shaping up to be a bad week for me and my anime I guess.

The first post is from the old leak and the second one has multiple incorrect pieces of information. i.e. Someone doesn't want to say how it was really done.
