I find it kind of ironic that the title of Bamboo's latest Shelf Life column is called "Back With a Vengeance" because the other day my user profile was somehow corrupted, thereby deleting all of my prior posts and data saved in the My Anime section, so I had to re-register that same night. Now Koyori and I are back and better than ever! Very Happy

I recall back in 2003 that the World Health Organization had to quarantine the city of Toronto for about a week because there were numerous cases of SARS there.

The city wasn't actually quarantined, there was just an advisory not to travel there unless necessarry.

No city, not even Hong Kong, was actually quarantined because of SARS.

I'm a little disappointed in the GetBackers dub that they actually translated Mugenjou into Limitless Fortress, since the original term carries more weight in my opinion. If they were going to translate it, I'd rather them use Infinite like some subs did instead of Limitless. And I thought that Ginji's gang was The Volts, not VOLT. (I'm pretty sure you can hear them pronouncing the "s.") But, I guess I can overlook those small things, since it's such a great series!

So how did Resident Evil: Apocalypse film there during the SARS outbreak?

Not very well, as obvious by the movie itself. Wink

Actually, the travel advisory in Toronto occured in May 2003, I believe. The movie started filming later that year (July or August?), and by then the SARS outbreak was contained.

I believe there was a VG Cats comic strip dealing with the connection between Resident Evil and the SARS outbreak, except it concerned Toronto. Here's the link: http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=57

I searched the Web and found a nice timeline of the SARS outbreak of 2003. You can look at it here:
