I am not at all surprised that Queen's Blade got licensed relatively quickly or that it got a dub, especially given that Ikki Tousen has also gotten licensed and dubbed. All its nudity and tacky fetish costuming gives it more potential cross-over appeal than your typical moe title, and it's actually not that bad a series if you go with the flow on the tackiness and flaky concept.

Honestly, I don't think this one should be particularly hard to dub. Most of the voice work is fairly stylized anyway, so as long as they use people who can actually act the dub should be fine.

It's not the first time he has done it; this tends to happen when users of the Mania forums are chatting about the industry.

John Sirabella has the "license announcement by Industry comments" down to a science, and we prefer Anime on DVD for the anime boards instead of Mania Forums, thank you Wink

Yeah, I'm there pre-ordering Ikki Tousen. Still one of my favorite ecchi titles, though have to agree season 3 fell in quality a bit (but not to the degree of Zero, for instance).

Queen's Blade buys will be one day when they are heavily discounted and I need something for free shipping Wink. I enjoy ecchi, but I need at least a decent story to go with it, certainly when it's that dramatic. As mentioned, QB seems like the purest of fan service--only made for game fans. Any success beyond that is just a bonus. The story didn't interest me enough to watch more than 3 eps of the first series, even though there's some excellent voice talent on board. Who knows though, maybe the dub will somehow actually make it better.

What is ironic or hilarious about a "hentai" show like Queen's Blade (which it is not, by the way, it is ecchi) getting a dub while "clean" shows don't? This decision is driven by profit expectations. If a company believes it will make money on a QB dub, but not a Ramen Fighter Miki dub, that's an unironic bottom line decision.

Yeah, you can definitely expect Queen's Blade and Ikki Tousen to sell more units than Lucky Star or any moe blob title.

There's to hoping it's released on BluRay.

I'd guess against it if this is really coming out next summer. The Japanese releases don't even finish till May. I doubt they'd allow cheap BDs that soon.

I remember hearing on a panel that Media isn't interested in releasing anime in Blu-ray format Sad

Wasn't even aware of that but if that's true, I guess that's all the more reason.

It'll probably be years, if ever.

In any case, I don't think I'm going to cancel my current preorders. Cool

Wow nice. Yeah I saw it on one of the recorded panel conversations with the industry and fansubbers. I may start looking to Japan for some Blu-rays pretty soon.

I agree with the comments saying that other shows deserve to be licensed over this......but to be honest I'll probably buy this Embarassed .

I know MB is a small company and stuff like this is ensured sales due to sex appeal... but it sickens me to see crap like this licensed when there are so many quality shows out there that deserve to be introduced to the R1 market.
Another sad day for the anime industry, especially when you see BOTH are getting a dub as well... Confused

Of all the shows being released sub-only these days and Queen's Blade is getting a dub... there's a word for this, I just know there is...

Queen's Blade gets dubbed? And the second half of GaoGaiGar doesn't?

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE

While I don't want to come off like a prude and while it is good to see a dub being made for them anyway, it's a little disappointing seeing something like Queen's Blade and the Ikkitousen sequels get ones and see other more "outstanding" shows not (GaoGaiGar's second half included). While MB isn't responsible for whatever decision Bandai Ent. makes, or Section23 or Nozomi either, and that the one made here makes sense from a profitablity standpoint, it still doesn't erase the bad taste of seeing all of them not dub shows that are perfectly fine in their own right. A lack of promotion or advertising for most of them doesn't help their cause, either.

But with all of that said, would a dubbed release of QB and the Ikkitousen sequels do as well as a subbed-only one or as well as a dubbed version of a "good" show? Would just the fanservice alone propel them (at a cheaper price, sub-only) or would a dub be that "extra incentive" to buy it?

While I don't give a damn about either show, I just thought I'd like to share how interesting it is for me to see fans not going into some kind of rant rage about an anime getting licensed in the U.S. and how that awful United States which they lived in all their life loves to impose on their precious utopian society that is Japan, but about why other animes aren't licensed and/or dubbed.

It seems kind of wrong, in a way.... Laughing

Ikkitousen: Great Guardians ought to be cool. I'm not at all familiar with Queen's Blade though. I'm still wondering where season 2 of Ikkitousen is...as well as Dairugger XV. Hope they put those out soon.

Oh my...considering how...mature Queen's blade is, I'm surprised it got licensed at all.

I really son't know much about Queen's Blade but.. you do know there is a market in America for Hentai? Maturity is no bar (although I think Hentai falls more under "adult" than "mature")

Think of it as if it's just a hentai title.

The dub will probably be around that quality, lol.

Well, I'm fairly sure that the anime was created for the sole purpose of trying to give ecchi fans thier own porn. Having watched the series and it's overtly soft-core- ese overtones.spoiler[ Tenticle porn, racy girl on girl DVD extras, pure explicit nudity yeah this is for fapping. ]
