Once again, Yukarin, you have roped me into watching another series I'd rather pass on for the sole reason being that you are in it.

For me, it's the combination of her, Horie Yui and Noto Mamiko. I'm really not expecting much from the show, but there is a vague chance it won't be too bad.

You just had to mention Horie Yui would be involved didn't you? Now I'm stuck at least watching the first episode with the rest of y'all.

It'll be interesting to see how KyoAni pulls off the second season so soon, cause I imagine there isn't much content left to cover with the manga.

Huh....what's that I hear? Sounds like the old hype machine is whirring up again. Must mean a new Kyoto Animation series is on the way.

By casual I assume that she wanted to have sex with each one at least once a week. That means 14-15 a day, or one every hour, that is, giving her 8 hours to sleep and another hour and a half to eat, shower, buy condoms, and other stuff. Totally possible.

It sounds like more of a "over her lifetime" kind of a thing.

But if she really wanted to, she could easily knock out 100 guys in a week. (8 hours a day, half an hour per male)

If that's the case, I hope she doesn't have any plans of walking anytime soon. Or sitting for that matter.

Why such a negative tone? All they've done is announce a second series and given it a release date. I enjoyed the first series for the simple fun it was, and look forward to the second one. I couldn't care either way about hype. Other people's opinions belong to them; they hold no sway over mine.

I don't know how they'd feel, since I'm not a woman, but you might be thinking about the wrong hole. Teehee.

I'm happy to hear about more K-On! A fun little bit, that.

Altough, the way they spoiler[ Goku'd a complete guitar novice (who couldn't read sheet music, had never held a guitar before and knew zero about music at all) into Eddie Van halen in a fortnight was a MAJOR stretch and a huge suspension of disbelief -especially as the other gals in the band had been practicing YEARS. And then, the little sister can play the guitar like a rock god just by watching her Goku'd big Sis play] ... gotta love the craziness of anime. But the show was fun.

Quote:
In the anime, Yukari Tamura will play the heroine Yamada, a virgin high school student who dreams of having 100 casual sex partners.

*GROAN* Really!? A Virgin with a heart of gold wants to A) become a mega whore B) a porn star (if she wants to put up those kinda numbers) C) a long-term outpatient for STI's and STD's and or die of AIDS or Hep. C D) thinks genital warts and HPV are cool E) lose all self-respect for herself F) avoid all her "daddy" issues through self-medication with meaningless, loveless relationships and anonymous sex G) make your std. Harem plot look like Masterpiece Theater by comparison H) make me question -again- why it is that I like anime and continue to watch it. I) pretend her life is a hentai, but since she can't find any tentacles handy...

Just when you think they can't slink lower... And it's listed as a comedy??? I can't imagine what the sales pitch for this show was or what their production meetings were like.

ANIME! STOP MAKING ME NOT LIKE YOU!

Would you all be responding the same way if the character who wanted one hundred sexual partners was male? And there is such a thing as safe sex, while it's true that limiting the number of partners you have will reduce your chances of getting an STI on average if other things are equal (whether you're using condoms/dental dams/latex gloves, whether the sex treats the genitalia of both partners with sufficient care to avoid tears to bodily tissue or condoms) just one partner who doesn't care about you enough to use barriers or where you don't know enough to use them correctly can give you an STI where your chances would be minimal with proper protection and multiple partners who care about mutual consent, enjoyment and your safety. I have skepticism that they'll handle this well, but it could be an opportunity to explore sexual double standards and female desire if somebody feminist got a hold of it. It's certainly better than "virgin wants to stay virgin because only bad girls have sex(ual urges)". It doesn't even say that she actually intends to have that many sexual partners, it may just be a reference to how many people she's fantasised about, a way of describing teenaged horniness (which is also not specific to one gender).

"I wanna be the greatest teenage whore ever! BELIEVE IT!"
I hope this gets licensed.

I've got the right one Wink

Pitchman: So, we have an idea that deals with a teenage virgin that wants to have 100 casual sex partners and....
CEO: Are they male or female?
Pitchman: Um, it's a girl...and...
CEO: Here's 15 million yen!

I couldn't imagine them having to say more than "teenage girl" and "virgin" for that idea to be greenlit.

If it were a man? Yes. The statement itself is just so... left field. With that many casual, possibly random partners, that's any awfully large number of times to roll the dice and take your chances, even with protection - Murphy's Law and the Law of Averages are against you, statistically. And that's saying nothing of any emotional or social injury or fallout.

Regardless of gender, that kind of attitude of emotional detachment, that casual disregard (even with proper protection) isn't healthy. Sex, even casual sex, isn't to be taken lightly or frivolously (in my opinion), which surprises me all the more that this is a comedy and not a straight to video hentai.

And I don't mean to demonize sexuality -sex is great! Love it. So not a prude here. But being open minded doesn't make me any less rational or realistic.

Unfortunately, I doubt any feminists will be at the helm of this "comedy." Sadly, I'm curious about this train wreck as I want to see in what context and manner their 100x's is handled. Is it simply crass hype to drum up an audience, or something more.

I'm not holding my breath.

I actually started to read B gata thinking it was about something entirely different. People should read the plot summary a bit more carefully.
Kinda minor elaboration on the plot summary, possibly a real spoiler if someone has certain expectations:
spoiler[The whole 100 partners thing is a complete fantasy. She doesn't have sex with anyone before she narrows in on the one boy and it turns into a comedy.]
