The Anime on DVD post lists the run time as 150 minutes, roughly six episodes. Hopefully they'll be including (necessary and no doubt lengthy) reference explanations too. Dubbed or not, the entire first season on two DVDs sounds good to me

Add in the fact that the dub would not do so good with the humor, if there even is a dub, and I doubt that. |
How do you know the dub wouldn't be good? MB's been known to go with the West Coast studios which I tend to prefer for various reasons including more of them respect the source material far more than Funi tends to.
MB is also pretty good at including Japanese extras

What sort of anime do you mean?
Cromarte? Genshiken? Gokusen?

Patience is a virtue.
They still eventually release a box set. I've been eyeing Otogi Zoshi for some time & finally they are releasing the full set in March.

SZS is a great show. I hope there is an extensive amount of cultural notes and perhaps a separate subtitle track for all the chalkboard stuff.

Okay, first: Holy Mother of my Uncle, SZS was licensed. Wow. Never thought that would happen! Great news--thanks Media Blasters! I just hope they get around to GaoGaiGar: FINAL soon...
As for license-rescuing Overfiend...uh...is that really such a good idea? I mean, what with the whole chaos with the Chris Handley case and all...

I'm excited to see this. I just hope it's good enough for me to buy so I'm probably gonna wait until it comes out online so I can make my mind up by then.

So maybe there won't be a dub?

Great news! I kinda wish they weren't releasing it via DVD singles, but beggars can't be choosers...

If you guys read the entire article, it's being released subbed-only, NOT dubbed. -insert whining here-
Anyway, I'm not particularly interested in this series (I tried to read the first chapter of the manga and found myself kinda bored with it, although I'll admit the art was nice), but it's nice to see that a lot of the popular series that many fans have been clamoring for are being licensed.

Normally I would yell I'M IN DESPAIR!!! However right now I'm quite happy.
The article says it will be released sub titled on May 25 however maybe they will re release it later on with a Dub. I think it's a show that could benefit from a dub if done correctly.

Ugh, gotta agree about the "Dubbing Queen's Blade but not SZS" thing.
And yeah, how come no one DID read the "English-subtitled DVD" in the announcement?
I guess this one's going on my rental list.
Nice to see no one talking about Urotsukidoji.

- incest, I'm in despair phrase here -
Oh well a sub only set is better then nothing, plus I love the Japanese voice cast for the show so no big problem for me

An interesting series; not sure if I'll buy it yet. Definitely a rent at least though. Wish it wasn't in singles.
My bigger hope is that this was a rumored license last year along with Moyashimon, and THAT is my second most wanted series license (first is Mononoke). I would buy that in singles, don't care, I just want it ASAP.

Quote: | If they dub it I can only wonder what Zetsubou-sensei's catch phrase will be converted to. "I'm in despair" just doesn't have the same kick to it as the Japanese. |
And yet, people were fine with the fansubs translating that catchphrase the same way...?

This is Media-Blasters we're talking about here, a company that has never bothered with with subtitle formatting beyond "italic or not italic" or positioning outside of the bottom of the screen. We might see some printed liner notes a la Genshiken, but I seriously doubt that any of the background text will be addressed at all. That's why I was hoping that Sentai or Nozomi would get this show, because they would've done it justice.
@CCSYueh -- Otogi Zoshi has been out as a complete collection for awhile; I bought a 6-DVD-case+artbox version back in 2006.

Oh boy, i can't wait to see the reaction from a certain someone when he gets on Twitter later.
Good to see this one was confirmed after hearing the rumors during the summer con season.
