Browsing through error reports, it seems like an overwhelming number of them deal with episode titles. I would think as a way to prioritize correcting errors that have greater importance over others, we should make a decision on both quantity and relevance of information.

There are always unwritten priorities. I always deal with pictures first, for a wrong picture can be either very misleading or downright offending (there were people submitting live-action pornography pictures); on the other hand, sometimes it's difficult to pick the best one from two or more pictures. After that I'd handle number of episodes, premiere/release dates, etc., for those were FACTS and unlike subjective items like genre, age rating, and plot summaries. Finally, trivia are very difficult to deal with if one has never watched/read the material. For the record, I don't deal with dub casts or English translators because I don't have sufficient knowledge in that area.

I think something such as episode titles which have both a very high quantity of errors but a somewhat low overall relevance should be given low priority in correcting.

Guess what? Episode titles are the least enjoyable error reports to deal with. Cool The number of reports are huge, yet most of them are spelling and/or translation variations. Anime dazed

A useful tip if you want to quickly refer to the front page of a particular FUNimation subsite you are blocked from is to use Google's cache.
E.g. if I wanted to see the cast list on the Strike Witches page and it was geoblocked here (it isn't as it happens, but others are) I'd stick cache:http://www.funimation.com/strikewitches/ in my address bar (since I am using chrome it will run this as a google search automatically).

So for example, one of the most relevant types of information is seiyuu information. It would save a lot of time and prioritize a lot of the important information if we took care of 10 errors dealing with seiyuu instead of doing 100 or so episode title errors. But just browsing through the error reports would cause someone to spend an inordinate amount of time correcting episode titles, while seiyuu errors go uncorrected.

I think this priority you speak of is a subjective thing. Currently error reports are sorted from oldest to newest, which may not be perfect but at least is an objective standard of priority. And with the filtering options you can display error reports according to your priorities. But I do agree there's a lot of error reports for episode titles so I added an option to exclude those. Some judicious URL hacking could take you further if you wanted Wink. BTW, if you wish to see seiyuu errors you should select the option to show only error reports for cast credits.

Ok Dan thanks for making the little modification, that should simplify things a bit. I'll try to find time to work on errors some more.

And about priority determinations being subjective. Yes very subjective, that's why I suggested some sort of decision to give more importance to certain things. Maybe among Encyclopedia staff in a very subjective manner might help cancel out overall subjectivity. But you guys spend a lot of time on it, so concentrate on what matters to you.

Wow... I'll help out if I can.

I found two error reports that can be deleted.

1: animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/error-report.php?code=AI-3699992988
2: animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/error-report.php?code=AI-1478550542

Since both of the errors have been fixed, the reports are no longer necessary.

Dan: Thank you for doing this. The ability to check which titles have already been submitted, and to make modifications to the submissions (especially my own), are things I have found to be invaluable.

A double suggestion, though: add an alternate titles field to the submission form, and make the alternates visible in the lists for easy searching (there are currently three alternate titles showing in the New Anime list, but there could be more).

When submitting titles, the instructions do state how to do this:
Quote:
To make it easier to validate your submission, write alternative titles as a.k.a. "title" in the Sources field.

From my submissions, it seems that if an "a.k.a." title is included at the beginning of the Sources field, the entire contents of the field are used as the alternative title. I just tested this—see Powerful China (manga) at the bottom of the list.

IMHO, either an instruction should be added to the submission page to correct this, or the "feature" itself should be corrected.
