No - frickin' - way. A movie? From that? Has it suddenly become cheap to make movies?

Is that sarcasm in the OP btw?..

I'm probably the only person whose eyes immediately went to Zegapain movie project instead of Seikon no Qwaser. Weird lumping by the way, but I guess that's what you get with bulk news.
I did. Because Kana Hanazawa made Zegapain awesome. Along that it was pretty different from the standard "LOL WE'RE AT WAR FOR SOME REASON" mecha anime.

As long as they keep the cast ill be happy

By the way, the title of this Talkback thread doesn't mention it, but the article also mentions that there will be a Trigun movie.

You didn't know that? It's been front page news for months. And the movie looks awesome, while we're at it.

Why can't Kenetsu Satou draw a manga that isn't laden with porn or borderline porn? I absolutely love his(?) artstyle so I keep coming back to these shlup series. Sigh...

If only, if only.

You say that like it's a bad thing

Good to see Yoshino Hiroyuki and Kenetsu Satou series getting some airtime. I loved both Mai-Hime (which only Satou worked on), and Mai-Otome (Hiroyuki wrote, Satou drew) and consider them to be underrated.

Hey, I enjoyed Zegapain too, enough to actually buy the discs as they were released.

Considering where the show ended up at, I would be curious to see what plotline would be used in a movie.

Qwaser movie? Sign me the hell up! The characters are endearing, the humor works (Hell's Dairy Cow? LOLZ) and the action is kick ass. Sure, the milking might not be for everyone, but hey, it makes it special. Also, the second OP kicks the ass of most mainstream anime's OPs.

Really, do it. Even if you HATE Qwaser with a passion, you should see this opening. The song is called Baptize and it fits the animation to a T.

Zegapain? Really, Zegapain? A 4 year old, not-especially-popular mecha show is getting a movie? This is odd.

Seikon no Quaser? That's no surprise.

Don't forget Fafner has a movie coming out this year, too.

I don't know why they'd do a Zegapain movie now rather than earlier if they were going to do one, but I think that it's great news. Zegapain was a great show. I have no idea what they'd do with a movie, but I"ll certainly be buying it if it's released here. Of course, given Bandai Entertainment's current state, it'll probably be released sub-only, if at all, but I'll take what I can get.

Unfortunately, with the news showing up next to news for a show that makes Queen's Blade look sensible, it probably won't be noticed much...

Why can't they think of originals for movies instead of rehashing old shows.... Laughing

Yawn. Guess they saw from the Haurhi movie that you can indeed lure in the otakus with a limited cinema run.

Actually it's Kara no Kyoukai. Haruhi film took a page from it in fact.

Kara no Kyoukai made the industry aware that a movie release is more profitable as well as able to fight online piracy at the same time compared to a TV broadcast, simply because you at least get a ticket office revenue, and the double dip DVD later. Whereas HD broadcast just gets put on Share or Winny in an hour good for archiving and nobody buys the DVDs. They dicussed this point when Kara no Kyoukai was ripping up the box office AND racking in the DVD sales a couple of years ago.

Because they've been doing polls in Japan asking people what anime they want to see put on Blu-ray (the same one that saw True Tears put on Blu-ray in fact, which turned out to be a run away success on Blu-ray) and Zegapain constantly got first or second place. The paying otakus wants to see it, badly, doesn't matter if the non-paying audience don't find it interesting. Economics at its best.
