That's great news about a Zegapain movie!

If Bandai brings it over here on bluray (or DVD) it is a definite buy.

I'm probably the only person whose eyes immediately went to Zegapain movie project instead of Seikon no Qwaser. Weird lumping by the way, but I guess that's what you get with bulk news.

You are not alone!

I never finished the last few episodes of Zegapain, but I loved what I saw. I REALLY need to go get the singles soon, given the boxset wait failed (had other priority purchase at the time).

Yawn. Guess they saw from the Haurhi movie that you can indeed lure in the otakus with a limited cinema run.

Actually it's Kara no Kyoukai. Haruhi film took a page from it in fact.

Kara no Kyoukai made the industry aware that a movie release is more profitable as well as able to fight online piracy at the same time compared to a TV broadcast, simply because you at least get a ticket office revenue, and the double dip DVD later. Whereas HD broadcast just gets put on Share or Winny in an hour good for archiving and nobody buys the DVDs. They dicussed this point when Kara no Kyoukai was ripping up the box office AND racking in the DVD sales a couple of years ago.

Zegapain? Really, Zegapain? A 4 year old, not-especially-popular mecha show is getting a movie? This is odd.

Because they've been doing polls in Japan asking people what anime they want to see put on Blu-ray (the same one that saw True Tears put on Blu-ray in fact, which turned out to be a run away success on Blu-ray) and Zegapain constantly got first or second place. The paying otakus wants to see it, badly, doesn't matter if the non-paying audience don't find it interesting. Economics at its best.

I'm all for more movies. The only negative for downloaders is a longer waiting period, but then everyone, regardless, is rewarded with a higher budget production.

Kara no Kyoukai... I would buy a Bluray player just for that. Okay, maybe not just for that. But the lower-quality fansubs only hint at how gorgeous that must have looked like on screen. I've got to see it in high-def; someone, license it! I don't even need any extras, just get me the gorgeousness!

As for Zegapain... that was an underrated series. Maybe because it starts out so slowly. Hmm, thinking back on it, I think I'd like rent it again. The overall premise (Matrix to the nth degree) was so well-thought out that it works as a great sci-fi series that won over a non-mecha fan like me.

Zegapain is one of my favorite overlooked titles, on first viewing, the first 8 or so episodes are really a whole been there done that exercise in frustration, but from there until the end, I thought it redeemed itself nicely. When the Anime Legends release was axed, I sprung for the singles.
Don't know about a continuation though, but love seeing the title get back on the radar.

I read the manga of SnQ and I must say, it was nothing interesting. I honestly couldn't care about the characters nor was there good story to it. I did like his drawing style though it's a shame.

A question to the ones who watched it already? Is the anime faithful to manga or not?
