Well, if you're going to judge marketing success by sales, those taglines have worked remarkably well.

"I don't like it" = "it's a failure" on the internet, though.

The tagline "Winning the war on pants!" is COMPLETELY irrelevant when talking about Strike Witches, the war on pants was already won BEFORE the first season. But hey, I'm betting it sells more DVDs than "Hey, look, all these famous WWII pilots are now all lolis who fly around with no pants and shoot aliens!"

And speaking of real WWII pilots... I wonder if Chuck Yeager knows about this series? I'd like to know what his opinion (or any of the other pilots who inspired the girls, if they're alive) is on being loli-fied and being turned into a magical girl...

Take out the word "don't" and the statement still stands true.

I also have a hunch the tagline was the least responsible party for driving sales. Cover art for the win... again.

I'm pretty sure that Chuck Yeager is the only pilot archetype still alive. A fair number of them didn't survive WWII.

And yes, I've wondered about this, too. I kinda think that he might not mind, however, since Shirley does accurately reflect his obsession with being the world's fastest man.

I hate that tag line. It makes this series seem like a show with only fan service. Sure, it has fan service in it, but it also has a plot and it doesn't revolve around a war on pants!

It's just an embellished joke. Kinda like Seinfeld's tagline a show about nothing (there's no such thing, of course it's about something). Smile

Its called a goddamn homage. Jesus.

Yeah. It's homage when Hollywood does it, but when anime does it on Hollywood, it's a ripoff.............. Laughing

Funimation has never been the best at making creative taglines for its fanservice series.

But that sold it. Very Happy

(At this point it's just a matter of time till companies start using "wincest" like fans do.)

I don't like the idea of Strike Witches - it looks like a terrible bottom-feeding show - but even I have to admit that FUNimation's War on Pants tagline is quite clever.

Can you write freaking well constructed sentences? I cannot take your points seriously with your half assed written sentences. I might have given you a pass if English is not your native language, but I learned English until I was 15. Your crappy grammar, KLAC, is disrespectful. Sorry for being a dick about this, but no one should be "exempt from grammatical rules".

The surprising thing about this series is that, for all that it looks like it should be a total bottom-feeder show, it's actually better than that. For as ridiculous as the concept is, it's actually fairly clever in execution, and the aerial fights make up for an awful lot.

As for the homage/rip-off thing that others have been bringing up: Okay, I'll admit that which way the series deserves to be classified on that one is debatable. I did consider both options but ultimately went with the rip-off because the whole thing was a pretty generic execution.

Because English is not their native language (or they have something like dyslexia). The Mods are given leeway to let non-native speakers slide, so long as the general meaning of the post gets across. If anyone thinks that a post is truly incomprehensible/garbled (no matter what the language of a native speaker is) then they should just report said post and let a Mod deal with it.

Because somebody decided KLAC should be. The relevant people have already weighed in on the matter(note the lack of a star next to the title), so angelmcazares's post isn't going to generate any action in his favor(it's also quite rude).

KLAC is an ongoing irritation on a number of different sites, and the general consensus is "ignore him".
