Yeah, there are some sequences that are just panning still shots (there have been at least one or two of these montages in almost every episode of the arc so far), but that's because 1) there's SO MUCH HAPPENING everywhere that you simply can't show it all, and 2) those panning shots are coming in between sequences of excellent animation (especially for a shounen). Stuff like Marco vs. Kizaru, for example. Or really much of anything involving any of the significant characters.

See, here's someone who knows what he's talking about.

That's because One Piece actually has well known key animators working on it, specially for fighting/action scenes (BIG names such as Naotoshi Shida, Kenji Kuroyanagi and Yoshikazu Tomita - do some search), something that Fairy Tail lacks completely.
Hell, sometimes FT seems done by complete amateurs - in fact, this show has very few regular animators, and most of them are total nobodies. No wonder the action sequences are usually a bunch of poorly drawn still shots with zero fluidity, it's almost embarassing to watch.

The still scene crap stops after episode 12. From there on, the fight scenes become more fluid and the the animation is improving a lot. Also say what you want about the animation and fights, but you cannot deny this series has a GODLY musical score.

I really hope Funi picks it up. This series has a lot of potential to do well with kids(just edit out the fanservice for a tv broadcast), since the show is already edited...

I think Naruto has much worse animation than One Piece or Fairy Tail.

If its on Crunchyroll doesn't that generally mean Funimation passed on it?

No, Crunchyroll licenses titles for streaming only (usually) direct from the Japanese licensers and usually does so before the shows premiere in Japan. Their license is different from the master licenses or DVD/BR licenses that companies like Viz, FUNi, and the rest go for. There have been several cases of Crunchyroll having the same licenses that other distributors have, just look at Naruto, Bleach (both of which are a week ahead of Viz's stream), Gintama, Eyeshild 21, Tower of Druaga, or Linebarrels of Iron, among many others.

funimations issue is that they want the streaming rights which CR prolly won't give away so easily.

This is truly excellent news! I love the show. My only question is: does this announcement mean there will be no time break between the end of this "season" (scheduled for Sept. 27, according to the ANN encylopedia) and the beginning of the next season? Or will the new season only start in 2011 at some point?

I think Norio Matsumoto & Sessha Gorou would like to have a word with you. Look them up especially on youtube. In fact out of the most popular shonen series Naruto (although its has become more inconsistent of late) consistently has the most well animated fight scenes

I'm not attacking you I'm just stating the facts

It gets a lot better later on. The fight against Gerard (or Jellal) and Trinity Raven was awesome.

Don't forget Hiroyuki Yamashita! Or the Toshiyuki Tsuru/Hirofumi Suzuki duo! Atsushi Wakabayashi might also become a "regular", so to speak, on Shippuden just like he was for the first series too now that he worked on ep. 167.

I don't think you can find specific clips of Gorou's animation, as least on Shippuden, but his work as an animation director speaks for itself.

Honestly, I'm not sure whether this can be considered a good thing or a bad thing. As someone who follows both the anime and manga, I can let everyone here know that after the arc that's airing now (The Battle of Fairy Tail), the series takes a major major nosedive story wise starting in the Nirvana arc where Mashima throws all sorts of random crap in that doesn't make sense or isn't significant enough to the point where people will give a damn. I won't spoil anything for those who haven't been following the series ahead of time but to those who have, you'll know what I mean.

But on the other hand, the series, flaws aside, is fun to watch, and everyone will have the means to continue watching this show. Also, now it shows that this series has done what RAVE couldn't do: get a second year in production.

Yeah, Festival arc is really the highlight. There's this arc that comes after that....isn't really my favorite. The one after the upcoming arc is pretty good, but the upcoming long arc is rather...um...bad. I'm gonna be honest, it's kinda bad.

Instead of being a douche and complaining about the animation (It's not even that bad. Let's try comparing that to the animation at the beginning of Hitman Reborn -shiver-), I think I'll celebrate the fact that Fairy Tail is doing well enough to still be following the manga. (And glad enough that TokyoPop didn't get their hands on Mashima's work this time. Del Rey FTW.)
Now I'm really fired up for the Nirvana arc (Get it? Fired up? because Natsu... Never mind.)

I wish this was dubbed but it seems unlikely. If it was dubbed though, I get the strange feeling that FUNi wouldn't pick it up. I get the feeling Viz would (if it were to be dubbed) just because it seems like something they could do. Fairy Tail's anime doesn't have blood (hell, they went so far as to completely change the casino from the manga into a playroom looking thing...) and it has magic. They could probably profit off of it and sell it as a kids show.
