Eh. I thought this series was okay. While the cat thing was cute, the vanilla characters and plot just didn't keep me interested. It's good to see them still licensing stuff though.

Well, gosh, Mario I guess that's the problem with posting a vague, useless statement like you did, isn't it? This is a site that encourages people to take the time to explain themselves. What's the point of just posting Why? That contributes absolutely nothing in the way of intelligent discourse.

Plus, despite your entirely convincing attempt at playing dumb, anybody who is familiar with your tedious anti-sub-only soapboxing knows exactly what you meant. Which brings me back to my original question: why are you allowed to continue posting here?

Ok Since your to dumb to figure out why I said ''Why'' Then i'll make it easier for you...

Why License stupid ****.. I don't care if this show is dubbed or subbed I won't be buying it either way!

There is that clear enough for you?

First of all, it's "too" dumb, genius, not "to." Second, thank you for jumping through my hoop. Good boy. Now let's see if you can actually articulate WHY you think Nyan Koi! is "stupid ****" Ehhhh, on second thought - don't bother. I can't imagine any poster so pathetic that they'd care.

For once Mario, I actually agree with you.

I watched about two episodes of this series but after that, I dropped this series. It has potential, but it just becomes yet another run of the mill comedic harem, with cats.

Just hope they expect some people to be a little miffed about this series being subtitle only.
no right to talk. you only watched two episodes...it gets better and is actually pretty funny

Yeah, you really should give something more than two episodes before saying "it just becomes another run of the mill" anything. Just because two episodes are like that doesn't mean the rest of the show is. I think the first 13 or so episodes of FMA:Brotherhood are garbage for the most part, but I hear it gets pretty good after that, so I'm not going to dismiss the entire show.

Now, if you want to say I didn't enjoy the first few episodes, so I have no interest in watching the rest, that's one thing. But you can't really make a judgement call on an entire series based on just two episodes.

I was just lamenting earlier about this...why do they not dub slice of life/comedy series? Granted, Clannad has elements of these but still...they could have made it work in Hidamari or Maria Holic. Is it because they don't want someone to get mad over some cultural reference they changed?

It's pretty simple. It's because comedy series for the most part do not sell well. They also don't get picked up oversees in countries like the UK and Australia very often. Without sufficient sales here, or international support in the dubs, they just aren't going to happen.

They are some exceptions like Azumanga Daioh, Haruhi, Lucky Star and others, but often even more successful shows fail to live up to expectations, such as the Lucky Star OVA not getting dubbed.

If Sentai could dub this show and at least break even, if not pull a little profit, then they would do it. They love producing dubs as much as many of us like listening to them. There just isn't enough market support for some shows. Unless the retail situation changes dramatically, or bluray or download anime sales sky rocket, that's the way it will be for a while.

Nyan Koi! does nothing for me personally, but seeing Gintama and Eyeshield 21 return to the schedule is excellent news. It also is the first time Sentai has solicited more than 26 episodes of a show so far. Hopefully Golgo 13 Set 3 will follow suit in January and here's hoping for more surprise & niche licenses from Sentai next year!

Great news, looking forward to picking Nyan Koi up. That's one title off my licensing wish-list. Smile

Very psyched to hear this. I really liked the play on the genre conventions and the little twists and sincerities in it. It was a very funny, underrated show and one of the better harem types around. Despite no dub, the Japanese cast was picked well and did quite a good job. Definite buy.

so could they actually release all the episodes for Eyeshield 21? that would be weirdly awesome. Gintama would be great but it's like 200+ episodes so that's alot harder then Eyeshield 21thoough that would be awesome to.

Never heard of this show before. Since it's got harem and romance elements to it, that means it will probably appeal, but I will rent it first to see if I like it or not.

I loved the "cat radar" joke in the first episode, and that alone was enough for me to give it my standard 3 episode test. But... nothing else made me laugh. So I dropped it.

Maybe in a few years if I see it in the bargain bin at Rightstuf for 10 bucks then I'll pick it up.

Finish him!

Go on....

it's 'you're' not 'your' and the 'i' in 'i'll' should be capitalized.

Bad grammar and other literacy issues(which may be little more than bad proofing of one's submissions)do not, an idiot, make.

Now I'll wait to be hosted by my own picard.

BTW I liked Nyan Koi and have been looking forward to season 2.

Believe me, my firm conviction regarding Mario's idiocy is well-grounded in other matters. Normally, I wouldn't stoop to pointing out minor spelling/grammar errors but it never fails to amuse me when a poster makes a slew of them while in the process of calling somebody else dumb.

PEOPLE! PEOPLE! Can we stop fighting PLEASE?
Personally, I'm quite thrilled about the licensing of Nyan Koi.

Being a big fan of doubutsu (animal) anime and manga myself, I'm normally overjoyed when any series pertaining to animals is released.

It's a seriously under-appreciated genre, that doesn't get a lot of licensing here in the States. (even popular shows like Hamtaro, Tama and Friends and Chi's Sweet Home haven't had seasonal box sets released here yet)

If anime about pets and cute fuzzy animals isn't your thing, then please don't rip on people that enjoy it.

You know "Thumper's Rule": "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all"

Wink

Well, to get back on topic, this announcement doesn't do that much for me. I fansubbed Nyan Koi! when it first came out and basically enjoyed it, but it is not something I have a burning desire to see again. That could change in the future, I guess.

One thing I do appreciate about Sentai is that they will pick up the more offbeat/less popular stuff that Funi passes by, which can sometimes work to my advantage. For example, as much as I would love for Funi to pick up Zombie-Loan, that probably isn't going to happen. However, given Sentai's track record, it is not inconceivable that they would.
