What, no ticketing info for The Jimmy Kimmel Show? What a rip.

And how many albums does Gackt have in the US?

None?

What about Puffy Ami Yumi? I'm thinking three, at least.

They ARE one of the most popular Japanese artists in America.

All I know is that I've got my Tempe tickets ordered!

Haisekoh: Tickets are usually free. You should be at Hollywood and Highland in front of the El Capitan around 6-7.

Would've been helpful if it was posted in the article or the press release. Save me the trouble of going thru Jimmy's site just to dig for the info.

Judging from its ratings and Cartoon Network's decision to renew the show for another season in June, I'd say a lot of people.

The problem is, very young people like the show because it's somewhat funny. Whether or not they actually care about the band is up to the imagination. Either way, its' easy to assume that most of the show's fans are exactly at a concert-going age.

Actually, at one time, Puffy WERE able to outsell Gackt, and Gackt is still big now, although not as big as Puffy were in their heyday. So it's unfair to compare those two at the moment.

It's unfair to ever compare their sales--Gackt didn't turn solo until after Puffy fell.

Puffy sold well when lots of artists sold well. Gackt sold well when very few artists sold well. If they had come out at the same time, Gackt probably WOULD do better.

I'd say the exact opposite. Gackt had less competition, therefore he sold better.

Puffy on the other hand managed to sell well despite strong competition for record sales.

Same set of data, two very different conclusions, both of which have their merit (I see why you came to yours).

FTR, personally I'd take Gackt over Puffy any day (I'm not a huge Gackt fan, but I like him more than Puffy Amiyumi, whom I'm rather indifferent towards.).

On the subject of US rappers, here is an interesting article

I don't watch Jimmy Kimmel much, but one thing I thought was funny was that they had the Tron guy on.

Heck, the Pillows did the Music for FLCL, (Which IMO, is a lot better than Teen Titans) And I don't see them with their own TV show or a TV performance. Adding to this fact, I know a lot more people that would rather listen to the Pillows rather than Puffy Ami Yumi.

Heck yeah. Pound it bro.

Ah yes Happotai the group that sang YATTA! Which I think is sorta like the Japanese YMCA XP I love this song a lot. My friends will TRY maybe to perform it for school's next talent show...or maybe I'll just choregraph it and they do it... Laughing

hmmmm.. it sounds like very few of you have ever seen Puffy in concert... I see mention and comparisons all throughout the thread, but has anyone seen Puffy live? I went to their House of Blues concert last October... the venue sold out and there were people of every race, creed, age... you name it... and this was before the CN cartoon.

IMHO, Puffy throws down like the best... they can really rock a house!
