That would be unfortunate, but they'd have to at least have some new animated footage to intersperse in there (the last 15 minutes of the first Gurren Lagann movie makes up in awesomeness for all the recapping the precedes it).

Anyways, well hopefully the movie turns out well, I would have liked to see flying pantsu on the big screen but unless it gets shown at a anime convention here in the US, I will have to wait for the DVD/Blu-ray.

If you get a BD player, surround sytem, and a very large projector-style screen, it can almost be better than the theatrical experience.

Just thank god this is a series that the pantie flashes and fan service can be ignored. I do like the story itself, so it's not bad to have a movie. Is this going to end the story or is it an extra long OVA?

Strike Witches isn't really so much a story as it is a setting. So it couldn't really "end" unless all the magic and/or military conflicts of the world disappeared, removing the existence or need for Witches.

They're already testing Jet Striker Units, so heck, they could go on to do Gulf War Strike Witches or something.

I was feeling a bit depressed before I saw this bit of news. Now, I'm filled with happiness. And perversity. Twisted Evil Wink

Hopefully this won't turn out of be some kind of compilation. (Seriously, Japan, why do you do that? Don't waste a theatrical budget on re-telling a story unless it's a full on alternate universe or the anime is over a decade old!)

I'm glad I can enjoy news like this.

This is also the perfect opportunity to post this perfect Strike Witches parody of the "Evangelion: Death & Rebirth" trailer:

That would so fool me into thinking this was a better show than it actually is.

I think the film might be a prequel Specifically of the "Anabuki Tomoko and crew wasting Neuroi with katanas" variety.

- More information is supposed to be released in Nyantype vol. 13 which is going on newsstands tomorrow. And Nyantype's website (http://nyantype.com) preloads a "The Lightning Spark of the Fuso Sea" poster, which you must click through to get to the main site.
- Also, the main site has a logo with the date "1937" on it. Which is when the Fuso Sea Incident took place (Suomous Misfits Squadron doesn't take place until 1939).

Unless that's just a side manga or something.

I really enjoyed the first season of Strike Witches and I can’t wait for FUNi to release the second season! I hope that FUNi will decide to license the movie as well.
