I hope this will not lead to really bad major changes at hulu.

Me too, I hope there are some good changes if the new CEO take over.

I have to watch a 30second ad oh noez.... wah! j/k

the problem wtih hulu is not the ad service.
I recently canceled my subscription this month, though.
I'm paying almost as much as cable with all these different internet streaming subscriptions.

I'm just hoping this doesn't affect the anime section of the site.

I hope for the best case scenario. If the stakeholders choose the next CEO then it will be harder for people to access content they might not other wise have. Unless someone gets promoted and share the same values as Kilar does. I'm really hoping for the ladder.[/b]

I wonder if this will come into fruition:

Yep, and it's a good bet this is the proverbial straw which broke the camel's back in regard to Kilar's departure.

Kilar has an outspoken contempt of the owners of Hulu, who he feels tied his hands to put Hulu on the same level with Netflix. Not only was he opposed to forcing Hulu Plus subscribers to view ads, he wasn't pleased Hulu was paying more for its licensing fees than other streaming sites.

Although Kilar's departure is making news, Rich Tom, the CTO, is also departing and this should be a bigger concern. Rich's contribution to Hulu's success is immeasurable, as it was his dedication and service to the site which allowed for its growth in such a short time.

The contribution was so successful, it prompted interest of another party: Disney. Finally, the infrastructure growth was done under budget, which started talks of a possible IPO (which may still happen).

If Hulu does crash and burn, I'm going to laugh with glee. Bittersweet, though. Hulu's a great site, but it's owned by douchebag companies responsible for co-authoring SOPA.

Only way things could get worse imo is if the site closed down. Was he the CEO when they decided that Hulu Plus should still have commercials, all devices other than a PC can't have ad based access, and the ever increasing commercial break length that used to be 0:30 on average and is now 1:30-2:00 minutes? If so, good riddance.

The only reason I would subscribe to Hulu Plus is for their partnership with Criterion. The only reason I don't is because my schedule doesn't allow time for much film viewing right now.

I never felt their anime selection was worth the price of subscribing.

Yeah, that's what I've noticed. I have Netflix Streaming and that's about it. Some of these others streaming programs offer up stuff I want as well, but if I signed up for all or most of them the monthly fees would ultimately put me above the cost of cable or satellite. I like the Amazon system where I can just buy the ability to watch something or even rent the streaming of a show or movie but don't have to pay a monthly fee.
