Is the Preview Guide going to stay open to catch the last couple shows? Houkago no Pleiades and Suite PreCure don't start until early February.

Nope, we're done as of tomorrow. Gotta cut it off at some point.

PreCure always gets overlooked by everyone. Anime cry

It doesn't help that it always starts around February.

Of the simulcasts I have tried there were some I intend to stick with others... not so much.
Wandering Son- Definately going to continue watching this! One of my favorites this season! I love the more serious feel of the series. Last season I followed mostly light-hearted shows (Kuragehime, the World God only knows) so this a nice change in tone. It's always cool to see LGBTQ characters comprising an important role in a show.
Cardfight!! Vanguard- Pass. My eyes glazed over when watching the first episode I haven't been this bored to tears since watching Aria the Animation (no offense to fans of the show but it lacked a substantial plot and the one-note characters quickly grew stale for me). If I ever need to put myself to sleep perhaps I might watch this show then.
Dragon Crisis- I'm on the fence about this one. On the one hand the action scenes in the first half were fun but this looks like it's going in the direction of a harem/Fanservice show.
Fractale- Ghibli Homeage= Win Cool I enjoy the fresh animation and the interesting world despite the girl popping out of nowhere at the end.
Gosick- Gothic clothes, European setting, fun little mysteries, Phoenix Wright Hairdoes... what more could a person ask for in a show?
Level E- Let's see... an amnesiac pretty boy alien with an insane personality alongside a bunch of other aliens have made Earth tehir home... hmm... sounds like fun. I'll definately be following this series through its run.

That's when the yearly Kamen Rider series usually starts, and the two are paired together on TV Asahi's broadcast schedule.

I don't at all understand how reviewers complain about Cardfight!! Vanguard explaining the rules in the 1st episode. How is one supposed to enjoy it's card battles without knowing the rules?

I still can't believe those are the rules to a real game.

No, that`s not nitpicky. If a show`s *art* or *design* rubs you the wrong way, then, for the sake of clarity, call it art and/or design in the first place and not "animation" or "animation style" which is used for the way how motion is created.

The distinction was not nitpicky, complaining about my use of it when it was clear what I meant was. I had just prefaced it with a discussion of the shiny quality of the animated art, it was not unclear what I meant, hence there is not "for the sake of clarity" involved.

It looks like it's very difficult for you to simply admit that you used the vocabulary in a confusing way. It was not clear to CloverKuroba and it wasn't exactly clear to me either. Rereading your original post suggests that you actually meant the art style and not the animation per see.

I couldn't care less if you don't really differentiate between art and animation in private or if you think it's only a concern for "film/art/animation specialists" but after being asked politely in a discussion forum about anime what you actually meant by "animation style" and you replying aggressively, I though I should tell you that you really need to clarify here. No need to be so offended, seriously.

Just read Key's review of Wandering Son.... actually got around to reading the first volume of it out of curiosity a few weeks ago (whatever social-cultural issues may be associated with it, I can really dig good character drama). And boy, it wasn't the easiest to follow. Would reading more of it, then, be recommended if one was to follow the anime better? Or does it look like there's enough potential that, after the first episode, it'll be friendlier to new-comers? (as it feels like I've forgotten what happened in most of the first volume already...).

winter has always been a good start for this year and I think this maybe the best in a long time. Since I'm taking my time on watching anime on Saturday mornings.

Infinite Stratos: IS could an interesting story without coherent BS. I always hated CGI alot of in my life but it was too hard to accept it until IS came and kind gave to reel it in. Surprisingly the MC and harem doesn't BS around even harem cast as well. This could be a close to call dark horse, the two episode are a kind of a good start.

Merry: Just good visual from J.C. Staff

Fractle: Haven't first episode and but could be a good show overall. Take note normal anime fans. This is how you cater to every anime fan for all ages and then alienate them because of not buying their product.

I just pre-ordered the first 2 books of Wandering Son. I've read the manga, unfortunately I started it with volume 5 (which was about a year ago). So parts of it were really hard to follow, but there were many references to earlier volumes so I got a big feel for what happened in the earlier volumes (mostly regarding Shu's and Yoshino's attempts at a romance).

I was so happy when they announced the anime series, but coincidentally it started on volume 5 also. From watching the anime, I was hoping to get the missing details from not reading the earlier manga volumes, but that's not going to happen. Any flashbacks or references to past events, are what I've already read about in the manga. So I decided to just get the manga as it's released. Fortunately, already being familiar with the characters and some of the events, it should be a smooth read that's easy to follow, unlike one first jumping into the series.

I can understand why Zac called Fractle a magical girlfriend show, though it was much more low key than the typical stuff. I really wish they'd focused on world building more, the doppler stuff really interested me. So I'll probably watch it too see if that stuff is any good. I also have a feeling that the people chasing her probabaly were not real vilians and were just friends/family chasing her for some weird reason.

I believe the point is how much of the first episode is occupied with card game rules tutorial, and its impact on enjoying the anime just as a show.

An anime could, for example, integrate the exposition of the rules of the game into the first three or four episodes, to avoid bogging down any single episode with the rules of the game.

Yes, friends and family always chase after loved ones using automatic machinegun fire. I know mine do... Don't yours?

Fractale is a pleasant surprise. It reminded me of not only Nadia and Nausica (girl on flying machine) but the look reminded me of Eureka 7. Although it's going to take a few episodes to see if it's got something to it.

As much as people harp on Rio, it's nice to see something that actually seems to try and cater to adults. It's just a shame that they didn't actually think things through. I think they're trying for a 70s Las Vegas character to the show. But they might have done a better job if they tried to do Playboy as an anime.

And I don't think it's odd for a casino to hire somebody to make people THINK they're going to win, although getting someone who can actually help them win could be a problem. The costumes aren't really a problem when you consider that many real Las Vegas hosts and hostesses also walk around in costumes. And the wedding dress during the card game isn't that weird if you consider it in terms of the WWE. It's part of the show.

ANN I just want to say a whole-hearted thank you for putting Hourou Musuko on the banner for the Anime Preview Guide. Out of all the anime premiering this season you chose this title. It's something that makes you stand out from the crowd of other Anime News sites and I don't think many others would have had the guts to do so. I think in your logo it should say "The Internet's Most Trusted and GLBT-Friendly Anime News Source. " Seriously though, it means a lot to me as I'm sure it does to other GLBT-identifying anime fans.

Gah! I really wanted Beelzebub to burst out and stand above everything with it's second episode because the setup was so perfect.

They're pacing this at a REALLY slow rate. I'm not exaggerating when I say 50% of this episode was filler. The overused electric shock isn't a normal part of the formula (for all you non-manga readers). PLEASE DON'T BE TURNED OFF by it just yet.

I digress, I'm actually making space on HD for some new anime and I wanted to know if I should fill it with Level E? The reviews say "Yes", but I want some of the reader's opinions too.
