A publicity stunt that cancels the event the publicity is for? That makes negative sense. |

Probably just some kid messing around to see how people will react.

Because they react this way to these threats all a person has to do, if they dislike some event, is to threaten some course of action. And faster than a flying cat-bus, they cancel it.
I bet if some threats came in over the Koushien they wouldn't cancel it. |

Yeah, you might want to re-think your post. Police priorities dictate where funds go, and dan9999 seemed to be saying that maybe they should prioritise funding officers to catch actual terrorists rather than arrest copyright violators. |

Why not divert 100% of police resources to solving homicides?
I stopped paying attention to dan9999 when at "sharing the love" anyway. Besides, when did making what is most likely a hoax threat constitute terrorism? Like "rape", it is a word that is becoming very watered down in common usage. |

Whoever is the douchebag responsible, he/she doesn't deserve to be hung from the gallows!
He/She ought to be put before a firing squad instead!! |

You know, I hate to be cynical, but I bet this is going to generate far more outrage because it involves doujinshi targeted at straight males. I can't help but say I told you so, but I expect this will ramp up as more and more purity obsessed fans realize how effective the Kuroko no Basuke doujinshi scares have been at stopping the "defiling" of that series. I do regret it, though, because I feel that this is not being handled properly.

Giving into threats like this is nothing but appeasement; Neville Chamberlain would be proud. It only encourages the terrorists to make more threats, which means more event cancellations which embolden the terrorists further. It's a vicious spiral.
Let's not forget that Touhou is a monster of a fandom. It's so vast that it makes the respectably-sized Kuroko's Basketball fandom look insignificant. So naturally there are going to be more fans affected by event cancellations, and therefore more people to be outraged. |

Of course, Touhou had triple the number of KnB circles registered for C83. Still, it is somewhat ironic. On other less civilized forums, there was much cheering (or at least tacit approval) when those "icky KnB yaoi (gay ass/insert slur) perverted fangirls" got kicked out of C83 but now that it has spread to their waifu porn, they have changed their tune rather quickly. Personally, I think it is bad news all around. I am happy, at least, that we will not be denied another season of Kuroko. That series and Ginga have been a refreshingly plesant change to what is usually dismal fail in the realm of sports anime. What I meant is investigate and punish !crimes", as simply as that, not prioritize a crime over other crime.
Not a witch-hunt against individuals for conducts that at most should transpire to a civil case not a criminal one, heck an administrative one in many cases, and stop criminalizing conducts that simply are against the interest of certain economic powers and corporations in a last effort to stop innovation and preventing the total collapse of an outdated dying business model along with its ***insert preferred adjective*** instruments as well: copyright, via scary tactics and desporportionate punishments as if it was one of the worst crimes and individual could commit like rape, homicide, etc. The fact that many of you fail to even accept the disproportionate measures copyright has brought to this era, likewise makes me stop paying attention to several of you as its clear you only hear one party, and eat the propaganda like pacman.
And what do you think motivated an individual that shared via share program, that gets you not a single penny, not a single drop of "status" or "internet fame", and the contrary an can get you to jail if you are in Japan? For this unlucky individual, I am 99% sure what motivated him was the love to his hobby an the fact he wanted to make it available to othera that for some reason or other cannot via the traditional outdated models. Since it appears you stop paying attention at the minimum comment that goes against your perspective no wonder some of your comments... This is the result of your beloved copyright enforcement, the result of intimidation from your favorite and only police state: the US: http://www.globalresearch.ca/internet-freedom-aaron-swartzs-suspicious-death/5319000 |
