Hey everyone!

My name is Natalie, I am 15 years old, and I am thinking of starting a club for all those teenaged anime and manga fans out there in Brisbane Australia! Teenagers only are allowed to become members due to the safety of adolescents and myself. Sorry....

If you love anime and manga then come and join my club that is looking for new members to join everyday. It is a new club and currently involves only myself and no one else. So new members are always more then welcomed! Very Happy

I haven't decided a place, name or any ideas for the club just yet, as it is merely at the beginning stages of what I hope
to be a great future!

This forum is for anyone interested in joining this club and is willing to be around people who love anime and manga just like me! We will talk about anime and manga, watch it and participate in many games that come to mind during club meetings.

So just comment if you would like to join or have any ideas on helping me begin this ANIME and MANGA club!

Bye!

Hola,

Obviously this is a hella late reply, but I think Brisbane needs something like this. BAS (Brisbane Anime Society) disbanded JUST as I joined up! But anyway, have you made any progress with the club? I'm keen to join & support, fyi.

Peace
Darko

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!! I would love to be a part of it as the only place where i can ever talk about anime with people is on sites like these as my friends dont watch anime (crazy yes i know). But this would be hard to set up. First of all a location is needed (bum bum buuuuuuum) . And a confirmation that you are not a pedophile (yes that was right out of the blue). Well if you read with a pedophile mindest it does sound, well, yknow.....ONLY TEENAGERS. Lol jkes im kiddiiiiinngggggggg. ANYWAY. Maybe a facebook page for members to join for starters. But i woukd be happy to join and contribute my super power. ( super awesomenous if you didn't know).

Haha btw this is my first post on this website (trumpets). Very Happy

Okay, I'm 21 so too old for this I guess, but anyway, it's so frustrating that these things never get off the ground. I just want to meet people I won't feel awkward around y'know!

Anyway, I came here wondering what the hell did happen to the Brisbane Anime Society?

No idea. Likely financial issues. Hiring rooms aren't cheap, and I wouldn't be too shocked if their memberships were dwindling each year. Considering the improvement on internet speeds and caps in recent times, it's not hard to believe people would just watch the stuff at home in their own time than show up every fortnight and pay for the same privilege. They were showing fansubs after all.

In saying that, I don't think they're quite dead (or at least considering a come-back)
They had a booth at Supanova in November (selling buttons if I remember rightly), and a post on their now defunct Facebook page mentioned a marathon in the first weekend of March 2012, but I think that's probably gone way of the dodo.

Maybe if they show up at the Brisbane or Gold Coast Supanovas, I'll remember to ask them.

I'm 15 years old and have always loved anime my whole life since like 4 or 5 years of age and i am glad that something like this is being made because i have always wanted to be around other otaku's because there aren't many at my school and all the other club's i have found have a lot of adults in them and i don't want to feel out of place i would love to join the club ( and its cool cause it sounds like a Japanese school club although it isn't) but i live in the Redlands and depending on the location and how often and what day we ave club meetings decides on whether i can join or not. If it is in the city than i might be able to go only if we meet up like once or twice a week u know like a weekday night or afternoon and Sunday could be an alright suggestion so that everyone can still do their studies and we can still have our weekends cause Sunday is at the end. But yeah i would really love to join the club and i hope i can Very Happy
