I finished all of Blood C in one sitting today and it was good.

I mean I don't get the hate. People seem to hate it because either they dislike the twist and for some reason think it's a big F U. But I'm not sure how it is. They show creates the idea that things are off and not what they seem. It has tons of scenes that seem strange and incorrect ,but in the end all make sense. That's why I liked it. The show seems tightly plotted and a mystery that allows you to go back and say "oh well I see what that meant". Let alone the fact that it was geniuely intriguing to me and I wanted to figure what the heck was going on. I'm happy the twist was crazy, because I wanted a big pay off.

People complained about the violence, but I say boo whoo. This is anime and it was great to see one that was off the wall like this again. I'm sorry, I'm one of those peeps who stereotypicaly dislikes modern anime and well it was nice to see something like this again. Not only that, it helped to show set it's really creepy and not scary, but horror tone. The monsters behaved and looked pretty creepy. Horror is disgust and well this show achieved that.

As for the movie. It looked pretty, but I'm not sure I liked the pay off. I'm not sure I liked what the villain's real goal was. I guess it's very Clamp though. Though you think Saya would stop drinking coffee now.

Either way I don't get this show's terrible reputation. I watched everything in one sitting and I hardly do that these days.

And I don't get how you can have RahXephon as part of your username and yet think this show was actually good. Strange world, huh?

The pacing was awful, everyone had figured the twist out three or four episodes before Saya did, that dog kept on saying to her to remember but didn't actually help her or provide any actual information, the villain's motivations were WTF, the slaughter at the end was violence porn (even I think so, and I like heavy violence), Saya didn't have an actual personality, it crapped all over Blood The Last Vampire, the whole Truman Show setup was really daft, and the singing would have made Saya the laughing stock of Japan Idol.

CLAMP should be ashamed of themselves. Their character designs were great, but their story . . . ugh.

Because it's a good show? You're also the poster who didn't like Gurren Lagann and cite the ending as being terrible. So I'm not quite sure what your taste is.

People say this, but I'm not quite sure how it was. People keep claiming that oh it was dull, but yet I don't see it. There's solid build up in the first few episodes and genuine creepiness. I don't think I was ever bored here.

Quote:

I kind of doubt that, especially since there are posts here claiming they thought it came out of nowhere, was a real wtf, are just didn't see it coming.

Quote:

No it did'nt, but whatever this is anime, where they always have characters talk or say mysterious stuff for the sake of being mysterious. See fan favorites Evangelion or Magical Moe whatever the show's name was. Oh and yes Rahxephon.

Quote:

Eh the movie reveals him to be typical Clamp. It was stupid, but whatever this is an anime.

Quote:

I guess. I see nothing wrong with that.

Quote:

Yes her personality was rather bland, but so are most modern anime protags so I didn't care. And Blood is pretty stupid franchisee that Production IG rams down aour throats so I don't really care what they do to it and I'm pretty surprised people have any attachment to it. They sure did'nt seem to have one before this show.

Quote:
the whole Truman Show setup was really daft,
Eh I don't see the problem. It was crazy yeah and? This is a show about a girl fighting monsters in her school outfit(which they kind of make fun of), I've already accepted that this is out there, so I'm not going to try and hold realism or whatever against it. And in the end the shows internal logic holds except for a few things.

Quote:

Eh it was mediocre in the English version. I survived much worse, like Bubblegum Crisis 2040.

So yeah the complaints seem to be "this was crazy/stupid". Not really good enough, especially with what I see people actually enjoying these days. Magical Moe has possibly the worst character ever, yet people like that show. People stick up for bland "i want to protect" protags in every anime all the time. And plot was no less stupid then most crap out there. Hell at least the show went for it and had no reseverations about being crazy.

So your base argument is "This is Anime so it doesn't matter if it makes no sense, the villain is stupid, the protagonist is bland and there's violence porn out of nowhere". That's ridiculous. As an anime fan, one shouldn't just brush off obvious slips in quality and lame character and story writing and call it OK just because it's Anime. I may be a little romantic, but I think like any medium, anime can and should aspire to more than pretty boys and girls doing crazy stuff on the screen for the shit of it and Blood-C should've been a good opportunity for a good story.

I'm not familiar with the Blood franchise, so I don't share the fans' rage (especially since general impressions tend to be that Blood+ sucks, but OK). Still, that shouldn't be an excuse for a show to be so absurd and overall bad.

I'm not quite sure either. I mean, who tastes themselves? Only perverts do that.

But I do have good taste in Anime. TTGL wasn't good, and neither was BLOOD-C.

A contradiction if I ever saw one.

I guess. My argument is most anime does this so why is it offensive here?

Quote:

The main plot makes sense, it's one of the shows strengths in that most of it's points are explained and most of it's scenes come together and have a point. It is a very crazy plot, but saying it makes no sense is'nt true. Saying it's insane? Yes it is, but that's not really a problem. The premise of the show is already wacky and to hold a crazy twist against a show that already has set-up a crazy world sounds pretty wrong to me.

The villain is stupid? Yeah, but honestly he's stupid in the way most anime villains are stupid. He's an eccentric crazy dude with a wacky reason for doing this. That's pretty much every anime villain. But it's really the movie that drives this, in the tv show he's just a giant ahole and well again that was pretty amusing.

Violence porn? I guess. You guys say that as if it had no point, but the tone of the show and it's disgusting nature, that called for the level of violence. Without it, the show wouldn't ave worked at all.

I use to think that about anime, but not anymore. Now I just look for things that don't offend me and are at least entertaining. I didn't go into Blood C expecting Ghost in the Shell or Berserk. I went in expecting disty cute girl kills monsters. Thats what the show looked like and it delivered. There's nothing wrong with enjoying something that's not the epitome of storytelling, not when it achieves what it was supposed to be. It's like blaming High School of The Dead for not having a deep nuanced plot about a post zombie world.

Perhaps anime could, I sure haven't seen it do that recently and the problem here is I doubt thats what Blood C aspired to be about, or well I just don't care to see it that way. What I got was a hugely entertaining crazy anime.

Hey man, I'm just calling it how it is. If you liked TTGL then great, that's your prerogative. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and cannot like. But if you thought it was an objectively good show, despite it being nothing more than comfort food for man-children who cannot handle proper logic and plotting, then I've got news for you.

Because factually it is a good show.

And logic? this coming from someone who didn't understand the ending? Don't make me laugh. Besides, whats the definition of proper logic? Having a story that is leached in by real world rules? No, I'm good. Gurren Laggan sits up it's own logic and tone fantastically through everything in the production. If you're not the kind of person that buys into that kind of escapism then fine, but thats not a good criticism against the show. But sure we are all man children because we can buy into a high adventure, wondrous, and over the top show like this. Nope, we just like good anime, anime that has fun with the genre, anime that realizes what it can do with animation. If I wanted all my anime to be stupid moe schoolgirl crap that we get today, I wouldn't have bothered in the first place. And the show didn't have proper plotting? Ok. Now I'm just done here, because this quite possibly the worst attack on the show I've ever seen.

Hey, if that's what it mean to love Gurren Lagann, then I have absolutely no problems with being a manchild.
