For goodness' sake will people please stop seeing wish fulfillment in anything that comes out? This is Makoto Shinkai, wish fulfillment isn't exactly how he operates , if anything his works are "wish neglect". And anyway right now otakus are into younger girls,a 27 year old woman isn't going to be their thing. An example of an age gap story done well is a bride's story where the girl is 20 years old and the boy 12. |

Kana Hanazawa comes.
Looks like hell of a ride, definitely gonna watch this whenever this comes out. |

Actually my first thought when it comes to younger guy/older woman is Honey & Clover but that was a smaller age gap.
Actually I think the idea is interesting but I suppose I am less enthused than others. I loved Voices of a Distant Star but every title since then of his has just not done it for me. I can say it is because he basically does the same thing over and over, but I don't think that is fair since I lot of directors I like do the same thing over and over and push certain themes. I guess for me Shinkai's characters always feel a bit flat, like they are only defined by one thing. But I know I am in the minority. Although the trailer looks beautiful so I definitely want to give this a shot. |

I don't know about you guys but I'm clutching my heart and swooning like a soccer mom at a Twilight matinee! I'm already so sold on the aesthetic of this movie- I LOVE rain and flowers and Kana Hanazawa and I can't wait to watch!!! Yay!

So in other words it's exactly like every single movie he's made. |

Ain't that the truth! I look forward to Shinkai's movies as much as anyone, but saying that is kind of like announcing that "Iron Man 3" will be Marvel's very first super hero movie. |

This shows looks really nicely animated. The story looks like it might have been done before though.
I would still want to watch it at some point. glad they had subtitles! |

Yay! Another Shinkai movie about unrequited love. This time a love of feet and shoes. When watching this I'd better hide the toenail clippers in case I get so depressed I try to use them to commit suicide.

I don't get why people get so prickly over age difference in romance. It happens and it happens often. And why is it a 'fetish'? There is nothing unique about being attracted to youth.

Not unless she acts like a 13-yr-old. |

The musical cues for the trailer are quite pedestrian and hardly evocative. I can only show enthusiasm for this film in a laboured fashion.

Looks gorgeous, story sounds generic.

Nice animation, loved the one scene where the clouds in the background lite up during the rain storm...very nice. As for the age difference hoopla...meh, younger/older romances never make me squirm. I'm an adult and if it's written for adults the squirm factor becomes nil. It all depends on the writing. It would be nice to see this over here in the states, but of course unless it's Miyazaki or has giant robo's, it'll be a pipedream, (Madoka is the one exception).
