I'll just post a list of why battler needs to prove it's not magic.

Battler needs to figure out Beatrice really is.

Battler needs to remember a promise he made to someone 5 years ago when left the family then came back.

These are all the clues I"m going to give you if he is able to solve these then maybe battler can save his family from their horrible fate. Keep in mind these are the odds. 1/2,578,917]

To be fair, the Christie parallels are pretty much entirely intentional.

Anyway if there's one major bit of advice to offer towards solving the mystery it's simple. Never stop thinking. If you do, then the witch has won.
