I have a few other probably-obscure titles on my shelves that I've gotten as promos or random review copies over the years. The 1990s Time Bokan OVA, which I reviewed, probably qualifies, as it's a spin-off of a '70s-era franchise that I don't believe ever got released in the States and is only really notable for having a lengthy guest appearance by Science Ninja Team Gatchaman in its second episode. I'll add others on when I get home, as I'm spacing on names at the moment.

The second and most popular of the Time Bokan series, Yatterman, is getting a streaming and kickstarter-style DVD release by Anime Sols, and Sam Pinansky said on the latest ANNCast that they could release more Time Bokan series if the interest is there. That'll definitely help the OVA make more sense - the joke of episode 1 is that every series has basically the same villain trio (and seiyuu) with slightly different names, which is why it's funny to have them all compete in a wacky race to see which 'version' is best. It's a mystery why they released the OVA (dubbed!) to a market with absolutely no experience with the original, but Mike showed this sort of thing was far from rare in those days.

You're missing a big part of Media Blasters "seriously WHAT ARE YOU DOING" history there.

Eiken apparently sold decently.

It aired on Starz back when they showed anime commonly.

I know, I'm as stunned as you are.

out of everything you mention in the article Garaga is the only one I have seen an own. The cover is by far much more entertaining then the movie itself.

I think I'll go ahead and add Bounty Dog to that list, myself. You know, the anime that looks like it was filmed on a Game Boy 80% of the time. X3

I saw Legend of Himiko once. It was alright. Nothing special, but alright. My friend has a copy, and we both thought it was funny how someone could get a katana to the spleen and shed no blood.

I agree that Sola and Kirameki Project are both good and I watch the DVD's occasionally.
Of recent purchases I don't know why I bought Knights of Ramune. Swayed by the T/A, what can I say? And I actually liked the opening theme song,"Miracle Body".
I am ashamed to admit that I have the Green Green boxset. Truly cringeworthy. It was one of the first purchases I made, but have since learned my lesson.
There are others too but they are hentai, so... Embarassed
