This never really occurred to me before, but now that the UK and Australia tabs have been brought to my attention, I've started to think about it. After all, the Grand Pooh-bah around here is a Canuck and many of the best-looking, most charming and intellectually astute posters are Canadian as well (modesty prevents me from naming names).

Come on, man, we ain't the 51st state yet!

Signed,

Canada

I shall stand by the corner of our fellow Commonwealth member. It would require very little effort to grant the request being made.

Couldn't we simplify things by getting rid of the Aussie and UK sites and replacing them with a Commonwealth site where our Canadian brethren would be welcome to join us?

We could insist on proper English spellings on our refined Commonwealth forum and maybe set the site up to automatically play God Save the Queen at 1:00am (GMT) every night, just like BBC Radio 4. Doesn't that sound cosy?

I didn't mention Mexico because a significant portion of its population already resides within the US. Wink

@ Moomintroll - that does indeed sound cosy. And with the latest royal nuptials not far off, well-timed.

Even though I live in the USA, I too would like to see it changed to North America as well. I mean even though some parts of Canada are "America Lite", they still are part of NA so I think it does make a bit more sense to include them in the tab and not just something shoved in a corner.

For whatever it may be worth, I concur.

Last I checked, Aussies don't care much about being in the Commonwealth.

Aw, you poor leafies. Confused

I say we give them what they want, in exchange for a heaping helping of their non-bacony bacon. Very Happy

I debated this myself. However there are two reasons not to change it to North America:

1) Too many letters in "North America,"
2) We aren't covering Mexico and Bermuda.

Y'know, on that note I've always found it odd that the Hawaiian pizzas I make at work have Canadian bacon on them. Laughing Just what is the proper term for it anyhow?

To be fair, Bermuda is the same as Canada- they get the same "stuff imported from the US" stuff we get, so any USA news applies to them too.

Though a Canada tab would be nice in the future for the occasional Canada-centric news, like con coverage or french dvd's. That said, it's okay for now.

Well then what about "US & Canada"?

It's no more characters than Australia and wouldn't include Mexico or Bermuda.

You could also shorten it to USA & CAN.

Fair enough. Canadian are a lot like Americans...we just tend to be somewhat lighter. Wink
