It had finally felt like we had gotten a heroine who stood up for women's independence from male fantasies... Now she's being used as a lolita sex object.

I'm not sure I'd go that far, but I'd definitely say that being used as a sex object goes completely against Misaka's character. I mean, there's a reason she wears shorts under her skirt, yet we get figures like this:

Is it too much to ask just for a simple figure of her, looking like a badass, preparing to fire her Railgun?

As I said before, Misaki's voice actress already said in an interview that Misaki was a one-time appearance, and that it was just to give something nice to the fans. They were never planning to do the Daihasei from the beginning.

Yeah it was something....a tease >>.

How recently was that one released? I can never seem to find any when I look.

Ah well, this is my 5th time seeing the damn Sisters Arc and episode 12 was really disappointing adaption-wise. Just going to drop it after.

Say what?
Actually episode 12 was the best adaptation of the sisters arc ever made. It includes not only all of the TAKNR Manga important parts, but the animators included even parts taken directly from TAMNI novels. (Most of Misaka 10032 and Touma dialogues and scenes for example).
I actually prefer Index over Railgun in pretty much everything, for characters and story, but even I have to admit that Railgun Sisters' Arc (both manga and anime) is better than the Index counterpart, and until now J.C. Staff has made an awesome job with adaptation. (Even if they added some fillers along the way).

As for the news, it's nothing new. I saw that coming the istant I heard that they were doing Railgun second season instead of Index III. The Daihasesai arc in railgun manga isn't over so I figured they'd make an original story for the remaining episodes.
The only thing that bothers me is the anime director himself saying "There will be plenty of fanservice", but well...

Not really, she gets blushy like that around Touma, but then usually followed by her trying to electrocute him. Very Happy

I prefer Index, too. Having read the LN's I can understand a huge amount more behind the thought process that goes into the story and appreciate the anime.
I agree the sisters arc was better in Railgun, but I disagree that episode 12 was the best. I recall they did not show any of that and it was just 2 pages and it turned into a few animation repeats and even more flash backs. Mixing in Vol 3 only confused me a bit more though. I expected the bridge scene by now, but they seem to be dragging it.

I agree with you on the first half of your post.
Though I have to object to your second half statements. I think that they decided to expand the story mostly for 2 reasons:
1) They didn't have enough material from the manga, so to make the anime last longer they decided to provide some background coming from Index events. That leads to the second reason;
2) Having added some parts from Index made sure that people could enjoy and fully understand the arc even without knowing Index counterpart of the story.

If my guesses were right... We won't see the bridge scene until the ending of next episode.
On a side note, I actually like more when they expand the story with parts taken by Index novel to clarify, instead of inserting useless fillers.

Yeah, I can see those being quite plausible reasons since they did not intend to animate LAC or Shopping Mall Demonstration by the looks of it. Maybe I just want to see Touma pet Mikoto ASAP! Razz

I'm also a bit concerned with "plenty more fanservice" thing, but then I think its referring to showing more of the chemistry between the main characters rather than full on ecchi. Railgun just isn't that type of show (judging by the minimal amount of it from last season and the absence of it this season).

I don't think we should be too worried about the whole lighter original arc thing. After the Level Upper arc last season, almost everything was an original arc, and I thought it was done reasonably well. The current arc in the manga series is still ongoing so they won't start animating that yet.

I suppose all this could be solved if they did just a single cour than a double cour. But then, while I am enjoying the sister's arc so far, what made the previous season so special was the interactions between the four main characters. The lack of this in the sister's arc is probably the reason they didn't want a single cour for this series.

I would have at least preferred that J.C. Staff had stuck to the manga and had it as a single cour series. Heck, even though they've been dragging it out with bringing in things from Index and original anime content, they could still finish the arc in about 2 episodes.

Not really. Being in love with a guy =/= sex object.

It was released in 2011 (?) as a bonus with the Toaru Majutsu no Index game. I own it, and other Misaka stuff. Never planning to get crap like the figure above, though.

If it's not the Ensemble one, I think it is 2011. Ensemble came with Nendoroids... I think.

I'm not sure if the Railgun manga precludes this, but depending on the dates in which these episodes will be set, it would be neat if spoiler[the events shown as taking place during Index's Angel Fall arc had the characters' appearances switched, only with no-one noticing by the time they "suddenly" switched back (at the end of that particular plotline). It would be a good way to show to the viewers how the more far-reaching events on the "other side" are still having an effect here, even though those not directly aware of it are going about their business none the wiser.]

Well, at least not until a 3rd season anyways.

I was really looking forward to that too since they talked about buying clothes for the trip...
