Guys, please stop being pessimistic dicks about "COREY MADDOX IS TEH SCAMMER AND HE GONNA STEAL YOUR MONEYZZZZ!!111"

I trust this company and will be preordering this release; it's always nice to see a new company get in on the business, and this series looks interesting. Heck, they seem more solid then Media Blasters right now...

Based on the ANN rankings, it seems like this is a pretty highly regarded show. I wonder what kept someone like Sentai from picking this up. Anyway, I doubt they are going to wait until they hit 275 preorders to make that dub. That would likely give them only a few weeks to make it. They probably just set the bar low thinking it wouldn't be hard to reach 275 preorders.

Just for the record, you guys might want to read this thread for more details about this company. Apparently the owner of the company was involved in a scam a couple years back that tried to raise funds to "license an anime".

Yeah I've looked at these accusations. They seem to amount to little more than "this person is a scammer because I say so". That nasty rumormongering needs to stop.

Noooo

He's a scammer because he's a known scammer.

Not only that,he's currently a registered sex offender. http://www.bustedoffenders.com/georgia/newnan/sex-offenders/corey-steven-maddox/250093cd9

Obviously being a sex offender alone can be for a lot of stupid reasons, and my local registry doesnt often list the reason. Luckly this one says exactly what. "Offense: SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF CHILDREN"

Frightening.

You know, I've read over all the various accusations and whatnot, and you know what?

I'm willing to give Corey the benefit of the doubt. I think he had a good idea with his first venture, but he just didn't do it quite right. This time however, it seems that he really does have his ducks in a row. With a real panel at an actual convention (and another con coming up soon, as well), and now an official press release up on ANN, it seems that he really does seem legitimate about this. Not to mention that he's working alongside Chad Bonin and Neil Nadelman who are both legit businessmen in their respective trades. Also, this entire time, he has posted several times on these forums, on Fandompost, and on his Twitter account in response to any questions that have been asked, and he has been nothing but polite and understanding even to some of the more hateful accusations.

I understand being cautious about this, and I really would rather to order this from a trusted retailer such as RightStuf or RACS, but I honestly think Corey's being genuine here. Or at least, that's what I'm wanting to believe.

Plus, I mean.... It's only 30 bucks. Even if it turns out to be a scam, you're out, what... three hours' pay? I think it's worth the risk. Very Happy

As for all those saying that they have no faith in the dub, he has mentioned that he's been talking to some professional voice actors for the project, but would still like to give the fans a chance to display their talent. Besides, have you listened to some of the fandubs being made these days? LittleKuriboh, Team FourStar, and JesuOtaku's Fruits Basket drama, among others, have proven that with proper casting and good direction, fandubs can sometimes even sound better than many of the professional dubs out there.

I am being cautious about this, I really am, but I'm also going into this with an air of optimism as well. If this is indeed legit, another anime licensee will only make things better for us in the long run.

The GA criminal code he was charged under (16-12-100) is pretty broad, but it all has to do with child porn. And it seems he had nine sexually explicit images of children estimated to be between 5 and 10.

Here I was, all set to say that this company was doing what NISA & Nozomi should be doing by offering us the possibility of an English dub. Then I remembered the infamy of the name, and the forum confirmed it.

I see that the dub for this would be, essentially, a fandub. That's pretty appalling and is all but certain to suck but I'm not willing to say that such a policy is worse than that of NISA & Nozomi as their policies amount to "it'll be a cold day in Hell before we commission a new dub". I'd bet that they even plan to make the English dub the default audio track, unlike Nozomi when they made the Japanese track the default on their rescue of Gasaraki.

This company is even willing to issue a commentary track. I'm not sure that I'd want to suffer through the fandub actors commenting on the monstrosity that they are fated to create if they actually follow through on their dub plan but it is interesting to me that they would actually entertain the notion of creating English extras when Nozomi expressed no real interest in acquiring the pre-existing ones for their ADV license releases (eg:Nadesico).

The guy running the company seems to be a creep and the dub it stands to produce is fated to suck but, despite that, the company isn't maligning dub fans as much as other, well-established companies are. NISA, and especially Nozomi, are taking a piss on dub fans and trying to tell us that it is raining. Sad

Everything I read says that people received refunds. Do you have something that states the contrary?

Anyone else think that it might involve anime/manga images?

Check this out. Apparently there's a placeholder listing up on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DPI644A

Still too early to tell if it's through Amazon itself or through Amazon Marketplace, but it does add a fair share of credibility.

New anime licensee company? It's always a welcome sight for us. Smile

I'd be willing to put down $30 for their first title I wanted to watch and to support this company.

YES!!!!!!!!!!! I loved this series. Short, but sweet. And the ending was great. It wasn't what I was expecting, but in the best way possible.
