I'm still annoyed that Viz treats One Piece like the 4Kids dub is still going on. Zoro is STILL called "Zolo", and the books IIRC still don't have any language, and haven't since the first printings of Vols. 1-5.

I've gotten used to it. It's like how they called Saori in Saint Seiya Princess Sienna loooong after Dic stopped their butchering. However, it's something I ought to not have to get used to.

As for the swearing, I'm pretty sure I saw damn get used once in one of the latter 50s during the Whitebeard War. However, One Piece is something I don't really think coarse language goes with.

Well, One Piece IS about pirates and sailing. Ever hear the phrase "They cuss louder than a sailor!" Raw language is often seen as a trait for people on the high seas. I'm not saying the characters should drop f-bombs every other word, but given the setting, characters, and situations, I think it makes sense to keep some of the language. Also, Viz still gives the graphic novels T-Teen ratings. It doesn't make sense to censor words like "damn", "what the hell", and "bastard" in a 13+ book. Would you censor them for a PG-13 movie?

There's the argument that it wouldn't be worth it to correct "Zolo" because they would have to re-print 60+ volumes. Yes, NOW, but when the 4Kids dub bit the dust, Viz was still only around Vol. 15. That would've been easy to fix. I still think they should correct it in either future-printings or omnibus re-releases, which isn't too late. Especially now, the FUNimation dub is running on TV again, and they do call the character "Zoro".

There's other terminology too leftover from the 4Kids dub like "Logue Town" being "Rogue Town". One would argue that Rouge Town would be correct, but "Logue Town" is what was originally printed on signs in both the manga and the anime, and it's also what FUNimation calls the town.

@GVman Anything T-rated by Viz is still censored. Perhaps less now, but like I mentioned, it's definitely not going to be treated the same like Seven Seas's own T-rated, Dance in the Vampire Bund. There is NO way Viz will keep something like that (nudity and sexuality) uncensored while T-rated, hence my contention about Future Diary if it were licensed by Viz.

A few years ago, some books still had explicit content labels on the front but were still censored. However these were before the current formal, adults-only, M-rating. It wasn't Tenjo Tenge itself that changed things, but the introduction officially M-rated titles and hard 18+ restrictions on the site.

Unfortunately this means things that might normally be treated as non-adult by Seven Seas or most certainly by other anime publishers for the anime equivalent now goes into the stricter-than-porn bin (e.g. if you create an account with a younger birthday, you can't even reach the titles' perfectly SFW description pages on vizmanga!) if Viz decides it's worth the risk to strictly limit their audience online for the title.

Loguetown is correct because it's a pun prologue and epilogue. Calling it Roguetown removes that.

@configspace: You still haven't pointed out a recent instance of censorship in a new manga published by Viz. I think a lot of the old censorship they did is still in primarily due to laziness. That'd mean reprinting, which costs money.
