I was kind of hoping that they'd just go with the "EMOTION" moniker; that way, they could include the ultra-cool, über-eighties "Bandai presents EMOTION" logo sequence with the "lines" and the electronic synthesizer music and the shiny letters below the Easter Island heads at the beginning of each video.

I don't know what video you saw, but on the Fancy Lala DVD's the EMOTION logo that I saw was just an animated version accompanied by orchestral music and operatic vocalizing...

They've changed it two or three times over the years.

I'm talking about the one they used before about 1996 or so; the one that was a common sight, primarily before Gundam OVAs, back on "old school" VHS fansubs in anime clubs of the mid-1990s. You can see the full-length version of it on a handful of older Region 1 anime DVDs, like just before episode 6 of Shamanic Princess and it's somewhere on the original Iria DVD, but I don't feel like checking. A lot of other anime DVDs just have the final shot from the sequence.

Then they replaced it with that logo sequence with the Easter Island heads on the island with the blue sky, but that version just wasn't the "great big thing of awesome" that the "Lines" logo sequence was.

Gatsu thinks everything's a rip off of something, and Evangelion is a rip off of everything.
