I know a lot of people have said it, but I pray that it follows the story (or at least the overall tone and style) of Pokemon Special. Satoshi Tajiri has actually stated that Special is the most faithful adaptation of his original vision for the games, so seeing that vision finally adapted properly into an anime (with no interruptions from that brainless putz Ash) would be a dream come true for both Tajiri and the fans.
Needless to say, I'm keeping a firm eye on Pokemon: The Origin. |

I'd love to say that Origin will slaughter the original series in ratings, but really, it could go either way. Regardless, I'm loving that official trailer. Like I thought, they're taking inspiration from Pokemon Special in the tone and style (more physical battles, most notably). Once again, this is high on my to-watch list. Gonna be fun once it premieres. |

He said that when there were only 2 manga series, and it was before all the 'gym leaders are actually evil' shenanigans that Special departed from the games.

Official site w/ trailer. Anyway, the site says it adapts the game story, not Pokemon Special. The main character (not named "Red," but referred to as "main character") chose Hitokage/Charmander. Red in PS "chose" (befriended) Fushigidane. |

Special isn't that popular in Japan. No way they'd adapt the manga that gets such low sales. They'd adapt the other Pokemon manga before Special since it does a lot better.
