Anime Midwest was this weekend and between that, meeting a friend from Gaia, and a small trip to Half Price Books I ended up walking away with lots of stuff!

I'm gonna bit the bullet. I'm gonna subscribe to Amazon Prime and HIDIVE to increase my legit anime streaming options. There are so many good titles that are not covered by the subs I already have: Crunchyroll, Funimation and Netflix. I'm tired of pissing around with unreliable aggregator sites to get at content that I currently can't get legally.
$80 a year for Amazon Prime (apparently we in Canada can't get Anime Strike but the flip side to that is that - supposedly - we have access to many of the Anime Strike titles just with AP. We'll see, I guess. $4 a month for HIDIVE. I think it's worth it to see the shows I want to see hassle-free and not feel like a pirate. |

Well, I threatened it and I did it. I've signed up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime and a 7 day free trial of HIDIVE. I plan to continue on after the free trials are over.
I can now watch ALL my simulcast shows legitimately except for two: Vatican Miracle Examiners (which I don't particularly care about) and Made in Abyss (which I very much care about). Both of those are licensed to Sentai and NORMALLY that would mean they'd be available through HIDIVE, but in North America those two shows can only be accessed through Anime Strike, which we don't get in Canada. I get other Anime Strike titles as part of my Canadian AP membership, but not those two. Alas and alack. |

One of the truly awesome releases, it's one of my "Why bother going HD when the DVD version looks like this?" titles where I won't or just can't justify upgrading. It's been in my collection since it came out and it's not going anywhere. As per usual, I got a "super thanks for being a great customer, here's 5 dollars off if you use it today!" post summer sale coupon from DD... after days of 10,12%, 15% off coupons, mind you. So I preordered Monster Musume. Ha, that'll show them as that's my anime BD purchase of... September, really?.. as I already bought the previous...following, double really?... two months during the sale since they work on highly discounted preorders as well. |

As if I didn't get enough stuff at the con last week, I picked up NTR Netsuzou Trap Vol. 3 and The Demon Prince of Momochi House Vol. 9 at Barnes & Noble, plus grabbed a freebie poster for your name. that they're giving out as part of their "Get Pop-Cultured!" event.
Sadly, they weren't what I wanted to go in for originally, as my original purchase was going to be Volume 4 of xxxHolic Rei. I swore that it was listed as coming out on June 20th on TRSI, but now it's being listed as August 15th. Either I misread it or the date was changed unexpectedly. Either way, it was a bit disappointing, but meh... Still needed these ones for my collection! |

Got my RS order in today:
Anime -Freedom Special Ed BD Box set - the Honneamise version not the newest by discotek. Good price considering this set used to retail at about $100 way back and lately was often going for in the $50-60 range. -FMP! Fumoffu BD/DVD and FMP! The Second Raid BD - to replace my old thinpak DVDs. The price was just too cheap to pass up. Manga -Vinland Saga vol. 9 - Kodansha had been threatening to drop the title or shift from hardback to softback a couple of volumes ago. So far they've been able to stick to the hardback which makes me happy, maybe sales picked up? -Dorohedoro vol. 21 RS sent me code for additional 5% off in my box too bad everything says no promo codes. Am I supposed to buy stuff I don't want then? |
