One of the first NY dub produced by him I heard was Boogiepop Phantom. That dub was very refreshing because I can get to hear the NY VAs at their best when they're not confined in a 4Kids dub. Plus I can get to hear Crispan Freeman's early roles during his NY days which was very entertaining. I wonder how the Kare Kano dub was; I'm getting mixed signals out of that one.

Nonetheless, Jeff Thompson shall be missed. Crying or Very sad

What shocking news I thought he did a fanastic job on the kare kano dub (i loved the dub) but back to the subject i am shocked of the people that have passed away this year. I am shocked of who might be gone tomororo. P.S. i am sorry if that sounded werid.

Wow, things just didn't seem to go well for Ohayocon this year! First Kevin Lillard falls ill, and now Jeff Thompson passes away. I haven't heard any of his works, but this is very depressing news to hear. Rest in peace, Mr. Thompson.

As per a post on LiveJournal by Jan Scott Frazier:

"There is currently no place to send condolences, flowers or cards but in the interim you can send non-perishables to me at:

Un Ltd.
820 S. Monaco Pkwy. #295
Denver CO 80224-3703

and when arrangements are made I will make sure they get to where they need to go."

My wife Anne fell over during the cosplay (she was playing Keroro), and broke her ankle in three places. She'll be having surgery on Monday. If it weren't for these other, much more serious tragedies, we'd be feeling pretty sorry for ourselves.

Anne informs me that another attendee was hospitalized after being punched in the face, and yet another left early due to a kidney stone.

One heck of a con, huh?

Gee. That all seems like one hell of a coincidence. I wonder what malicious force was surrounding Ohayocon this year.
Seriously, though: May Jeff rest in peace. He was after all involved in some of my more favorite anime.

I was at the Philly animation society meeting tonight and I was shock to find out about Jeff's passing. I personally got to know him while he attended some of the meeting back in the laste 80' or early 90's. Can't quite remember, but one thing I do remember about him. He was a very big Urusei Yatsura fan. That was his show. I knew him before he got involve in the Anime Home Video Industry, but when he started to work for Right Stuff. I lost touch with him. He made friends as well as enemies, but still I like th guy. He was to young to pass away like that. I figure he was at least in his late 30's or early 40's.
It was glad to have known him for awhile.

It's been a few years since I last talked to him, but I knew Jeff fairly well from the con circuit. Happening upon news of his death on A Fan's View hit me pretty hard, the irony being that that's Kevin Lillard's site. What an odd con this Ohayocon was in retrospect. Jeff did a lot for the anime industry, he was a very motivated guy. He'll be missed.

I was at Jeff's last Ohayhocon panel on Sunday, and if he was sick, he didn't show it apart from a little coughing. He seemed so full of life and stories. He will be missed.
