Narutaru. Ok well, you'd definitely have to give this one a chance. It's not as bloody as it is extremely dark and violent. I know it has some blood in places..but it's been too long for me to tell you it's bloody throughout. Violent though? Yes. If you decide to watch this, do not judge anything by the first episode. I heard Alien Nine is somewhat similar but have not watched it as of yet so I'll go with a maybe on that one.

From what I've seen of Narutaru (first 12 episodes out of 13) (mild spoilers) spoiler[there is not even seen a speck of red blood so either the last episode has some, or you're completely mistaken.] It's a pretty good dark and disturbing series, but I think it could have been better if the length was extended beyond 13 episodes. I enjoyed it because of the interesting characters of which a large portion are completely nuts Laughing.

I've watched all of Alien Nine and think it's a wonderful anime even though it's only 4 episodes, but it is not particularly bloody. It's kind of like psychological horror but I found the series to be very depressing mostly. Some people dislike the main character though, and feel that she whines and cries too much.

I'll definitely add my recommendation for Elfen Lied as well even though it really is getting a bit redundant. This anime will almost always get mentioned whenever one asks for a dark and/or bloody anime. This is definitely one of my favorites and I actually really liked how the series was concluded unlike some other unrelated anime I've seen. I've found it to be a very sad and depressing series as well, and of course has lots of blood and gore which I thought was mostly used very effectively.

I've only seen 3 episodes of Gantz so far so I don't have an accurate opinion of it yet, but from what I've seen I don't find it to be that good. It's a little bit irritating seeing how some of these characters react but others have said they behave "realistically." I'll have to think about that as I watch more of the series. It's pretty bloody so far but none of these 3 episodes have been nearly as bloody as the first episode of Elfen Lied.

I'm seeing Gantz titled as "as gory as gory can get" everywhere- a quick side question: does the violence suddenly escalate when the second season starts? I watched the first, and was completely unbothered. I'm underaged for the series and am not drawn to blood and violence as a particular genre, and still I found what I saw mild.

Is there some kind of edited version? I haven't seen the second season, so that leaves three options.

1. I'm more tolerant than I thought, and apparently 'extremely violent' is barely anything.

2. I saw some kind of edited version of the first half.

3. The violence suddenly explodes during the second season.

Sorry if this is a little off-topic, or if asking a question like this in someone else's thread is...not accepted? If so, a PM would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Option 3.

The first season is actually okay, the second season tears it all down though and whatever progress was made with the characters is tossed out the window. spoiler[By the half way point of Season 2 the only characters I liked in the series, Kishimoto and Kato have died disturbingly horrible deaths and you're left with the incredibly shallow and uninteresting Kurono, who in the end also dies and the big black ball of death moves on somewhere else, end credits.] It really blows seriously. This series was just way too mean spirited and depressing for my tastes. I got the message it was trying to portray I just don't agree with it.

Just for the record. spoiler[Kurono dosen't die. That is the whole jist of the subway scene. That he is makeing the choice to go back to the liveing world rather then going to the afterlife. The character has won the right to choose. Yeah I get it some people are confused by this, but if you think about the last episode again it should click for you.]

To the OP of the question yes in the second season the violence explodes your going to get some serious emotional movement off of the violence. The series if it has nothing else. Some advice once you start into the second season stick with it, because if you hit the rough patch and run. You will never have closure. Anyway now that you asked the question your pretty committed like the child who is told not to look inside a box.

Thank you so much. o_o I desperately wanted to hear how the series ends, but didn't want to go any further due to the sexual content and sudden change. The fact that my favourite character died early in the first season kind of turned me away from the series as well, but I suppose it was a character-building thing.

I'm glad to know the ending- now I won't bother with trying to put up with the content, since I thankfully know where the series is going. Thanks!

The first season was good though, so I'd reccomend it as a series in general save for the second season (from what I've heard). The first is good enough, though apparently the second suddenly grows in gore-level. So yeah, I'd reccomend it from what I've seen.

A new series called TOKKO just started in Japan and it is pretty bloody. Not quite Elfen Lied or Gantz levels (yet; only one episode has aired), but still very bloody.

Glad I could help. This one was a real chore to finish for me and I would have given it up after spoiler[Gantz decides to make Kurono the next target near the end and has all the newly dead people hunt him], were it not for the fact I was morbidly curious as to how much worse it could get and the fact I like to finish what I start. This series goes on the "Avoid at all costs" list and I would not recomend it to someone without making them aware of it's faults.

Pursue portions of Manga Entertainments catalog for gory anime.

The one that comes to mind is Angel Cop from Manga's catalog. Essentially, you have gore, violence, death, swearing, and general mayhem from this series. An infamous scence from the series shows spoiler[a Communist Red May Terrorist getting her brains blown out by Angel.]

Another catalog entry in Manga's book is Go Nagi's Violence Jack. Basiclly your steriotypical post-apocolypse film with elements of violence. Also has it's fair share of bad quotes.

You also have Ninja Scroll, if your also into spoiler[rape/molestation of a ninja that has poisonous skin.]

I suggest look at Manga Entertainments catalog and rent a few titles.
