Not sure if this is what you're asking, but ecchi lighter than hentai. While ecchi may just involve revealing outfits and possibly some nudity, hentai involves sexual action. I think if there is heavy nudity but nothing of sexual nature, its still just ecchi. [/spoiler] |

Well the ones with stories and good sex scenes are best in my book. Of course it's hentai though so most people's preference would be the sex, and then nobodys tastes are exactly indentical in that area either. I personally don't want to watch anything where the sex is forced or otherwise non-consentual like rape, blackmail, or kidy porn. I also don't like anything like tenticles, or bondage in it either. It should be something that's done because the people are in love (best case scenario) or want to have a good time (acceptable). |

I had thought that the difference between hentai and ecchi was the same as the difference between kinky and perverted here. Kinky uses a feather, perverted uses the whole chicken

Well for me, I'd also have to say the sex scenes, and maybe some of the creativism you said. I don't have a great liking for rape, bondage, or anything "kinky" like that. However, the stories in some hentai series are a bit more creative than live action porn. I really liked Bible Black, the exception to my dislike of rape scenes (though I have difficulty watching some of them), because of how it was approached; the series uses black magic, gothic settings, and pretty good animation. I guess a good hentai series for me would be some good sex scenes and some creativity. |

good choice, however as he said he watched bible black; the demon rape and the scene with the water hose and the gag topped everything in La Blu Girl but another i dont see yet is Viper GTS; moreso interesting than erotic, i like the cutsey at too. oh, and mezzo forte is also a good one, assuming we'd count it as such? |

Hmm, it varies from hentai to hentai. Pleasing character designs seems to be a common denominator for me though. Even better when they round out the characters with interesting attributes (sexy voice, mannerisms and so on). Good animation does without a doubt add to the pleasure, though there are some hentai with only so-so animation that I really enjoyed. A hot hook in the story is necessary, so as to fire up the imagination. I especially like it when the hook stands out from the rest of the pack. Like in Midnight Sleazy Train where they take an outrageous idea and develop it with a great deal of logical consistency. Hmm, better add consistency to the list. The sex should spring from the story, not just happen. I don't mean hentai should be story driven, just that the story should set up the sex scenes and add to the hotness of the scenes. It shouldn't feel like it's just filler between the sex. Dialogue... I don't know. I don't think the Japanese write great dialogue for hentai. Domineering monologues on the other hand.

the only real issue i have had with animation in a hentai, is recycled sex scenes....you know, using the same, lets say, "poking" scene over and over, but in totally different places, and dont even try to hide it; partially why i adore bible black; amazing art, and top notch animation as well; and i have to say a few twists in the plot, surprised me, so the story (or lack thereof) was good for me too.
however, to add soemthing off topic, your avatar makes me laugh inside. very funny.

I have written a metric tons worth of posts regarding the female VAing in Bible Black, only one of them is good (the "nurse", Cinthia Gough). Michelle Duhard, Josphine Clemens and co. sound half Russian or like someone is trying to choke Ms. Piggy. And yet I still watched it . . . wonder why.

I didn't see this up so, Fencer of Minerva, or however its spelled. There is minimal rape, and it's not creepy or anything. The sex isnt a prominent feature (maybe 3 5min sex secenes per 45 min episode), but the story is good (for a hentai) and the character designs are well done.

Correct, Echi would be anime with lots of extreme ammounts of pany shots, nudity, or psuedo-softcore sex that doesn't show much wheras hentai features full revealing sex scenes. I've found that more than a few titles companies here bill as "hentai" under their adult labels are sometimes not so much. A few more recomendations for nice consentual stuff: A Heat for All Seasons-An aspiring novelist meets his high school crush again and he soon discovers that it's a mutual attraction which soon results in a relationship. However, when he commutes away for work will their relationship stand the test of time and temptation? It's got a pretty good story with an ok romance and drama. The sex is alright. Naughty Nurses-Mayu starts work at a hospital as nurse only to discover her ex-boyfriend works there as a doctor. Through a series of events they discover they still love each other and try to work out certain "issues" and give the relationship another try. .Stringendo - Angel-tachi no Private Lesson-This one has a number of different storylines going at once and I found it hard to figure out what was going on durring most of it because only half of it was subbed. However, as far as animation and the sex goes it was top notch and pretty hot. It also has a sequel of sorts called Stringendo and Accelerado Ultimatum Sera which was also watchable. |

There's one I watched way back. Featured a teacher who was teased with the name "monkey" by the other teachers. Thinking one of his students was spying on him for the other teachers, he rapes her only to find out she was only following him because she had a crush on him. Later, they connive to sexually humiliate the other teachers. Forgot the title... ring any bells?

There was one of these a while back, or at least it looked like a typical Shoujo with sex. I never could find an eng dub so can only guess. The title was Ashita no Yukinojou. Another one you might check out, even though it doesn't go all the way with the sex scenes is the Honey X Honey Drops OVA. Without having read some of the manga the OVA is sort of incomprehensible though. Others you might like are Koihime and End of Summer. They are gentle, everything being consensual, but aren't so watered down as to be limp, so to speak. As a woman, I thought these two were more arousing than most because the guy actually cares about doing his share to stimulate the female as well. Moonlight Lady was intentionally oblique and there was some non-con, but not much. If you can stand Yaoi Sensitive Pornograph is very explicit and Ai no Kusabi actually comes off as a fairly decent story aside from any sexual content. For some strange reason non-hentai romance with smut seems to be limited to Yaoi. I really don't understand why. I'd love to see more smutty manga get made into anime but I have a feeling it's not likely to happen anytime soon. I'm always keeping my eyes open for anything that could "pass," meaning it's good enough to be released sans the sex scenes. I'd love to get recommendations for hentai that could be a mainstream title, or just any that might appeal to women too. Anyone got any suggestions? |

Sex Exchange is a pretty good one. No objectional content outside of the whole incest thing, and the girl is really cute whenever she ends every sentence with ~shi. Animation is also really good for a hentai, and so is the voice acting.
