The person who started this thread cross posted it to three different forums. I deleted two of those and your post may have been in one of those.

I moved the one with the most replies here.

So im still curious to know why Adv? i mean yes obviously they had a huge hole in their website to be able to have their whole site shut down....But i'm positive there are LOTS of other sites who have the same if not worse protection. I guess i'm just a little angry the one day I decide to buy a dvd online from them the site is down Sad

If you look at the mirror linked to earlier, you'll see that they defaced over 100 similar sites today. The only reason they chose ADV was because it was discovered to be vulnerable, in due time they'll do every site they discover to be vulnerable.

Another Laughing Man incident?....

I'm always amazed to how people who are obviously really smart, don't use it for something better. What a waste.

That green symbol looked pretty cool though.

They hack pages to put up a propaganda message claiming that the Armenian genocide never happened, and that Kurds are the biggest terrorists on the planet.

The Kurds are as much of victims to terrorism as the Whey is. The real big terrorist is Little Miss Muffet who keeps eating both.

Anyone heard of the term "Karma"?

Although knowing a bit on creating websites, it really sucks for them, but I'm almost positive their webmaster has backups of the original page. Atleast they should considering how many people hate on ADV it was bound to happen eventually.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this: What the hell does this hacking incident have to do with people supposedly hating on ADV? The hackers hit a totally random site, and it has nothing -- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING -- to do with how well or badly you think ADV runs its company.

Its hard to believe that ADV is one of the sites that was randomly attacked. It's even more surprising to learn that ANN had been attacked in the past. I hope things return to normal soon for ADV.

Hmm, what a coincidence....I just had a conversation last night with a Turkish-American about how she doesn't believe in the Armenian genocide. With that conversation in mind and now with the ADV site hack, I guess there's no better time to read up on the whole Turkey-Armenia issue.

This topic was started early in the morning in the retail forum before ANN even reported on it. By then, all I knew was that the site was hacked and no background on the hackers, I had no idea the hackers where attacking random sites. I thought some disgruntled anime fan just decided to hack ADV's site because their favorite manga was hung out to dry.

I could sit here and call you an idiot for not realizing that my post was posted before anyone was informed that the attacks were random, but I won't.

Edit - My post was the fourth post on this topic. Tenchi's 13th or 14th post was the first to say the hackers attacked random sites. Not even the front page article says the attacks were random.
