I happened to be there at the Gundam panel for that little "surprise announcement" and, well, let me quote Jerry Chu on this:

"Uh... wow! I wasn't expecting that... let's not let this information leave this room, ok? Don't post this on the internet, PLEASE!"

Does anyone listen?!

I dunno... I'm sure he knows better than that. I can't think of him being that naieve.

Maybe it's more of a case of reverse psychology and building up the hype?
