As much as I enjoyed the series and adored the visuals, I'm not very sure if I'd want a continuation. I'd rather see it get a movie.

A prequel movie would be nice, showing how Earth got the way it was, and how people managed to escape/survive on the planet.

I would not like a second season either. Like others have pointed out, the current anime wrapped up nicely. I rather see them make one of those pointless and silly movie compilations (a movie prequel could work though).

I hope I am wrong, but with the amount of copies that the first two Japanese BD sets have sold, a second season seems like a real possibility.

Weren't they doing a spin-off centered on Ridget? Maybe it's related to that?

If it's anything less than an OVA or 2nd season then the "important announcement" tag would be rather silly.

There's a lot of directions they could go with the story.

As long as Bellows gets a lot of screen time I'm happy.

Pretty much agree with this.

Yeah, I'm ready for more if it's good.

Is she getting a spin-off too? I remember the news report that Bellows is, which was great news (though we'll probably never get it?). Both would be cool.

No, that's actually who I'm thinking of, her. (Then who's...oh. How did I mix that up?)

The second special (episode 15) gave a bit of a sequel of how Kugel got to Earth and how he became a "god". One or two more OVAs, IMO, are needed so his storyline becomes part of the main storyline.

As for a second season, I can't see this unless somehow the Alliance was able to find Earth. Then the whole series would be a bust.
