If American fans can live with Ra's Al Ghul not having the Lazarus Pit, then I think Lupin fans can live with Goemon not dressing like a stereotype.

Remember, they could have done something worse:
-Lupin would perform a rap.
-Fujiko would be a Ganguro that tweeted every ten seconds.
-Goemon would have gotten his Samurai skills by watching episodes of "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger."
-There would be product placement up the ass.
-Michael Bay, M. Night Shyamalan, or Uwe Boll would be in the director's chair.

Those are two completely different things. The Lazarus Pit didn't even exist until a few issues into Denny O'Neil's Ra's stories. And Ra's is still a threat outside of his immortality escape hatch.

The entire point of Goemon's character is that he's this outdated samurai stereotype in modern society. Being outdated intends not to itself become outdated.

How do you update Goemon? Hm? Does he become an outdated Japanese delinquent stereotype instead, with a giant pompadour and a wooden practice sword?

Actually, TMS used a similar "proposal" I came up with for the anime spin-off. Cool

That's what I why keep telling people that Japan can mess up live-action adaptation of anime/manga. US is the not the only one to do this.

I'm actually looking forward to this-- that cast is amazing! (I'm especially excited to see Ayano Go as Goemon.) Luckily I've never been particularly interested in the original property so quite honestly whatever changes they make are cool with me.
