I suppose I just invited people to post every single show that had its theme song re-performed in English for its dub, didn't I? Anime smile + sweatdrop

Sailor Moon also happened to have its theme redone in English in a much shorter version than the original Japanese dub.

When you say chemistry, I'm forced to think of the actors being with each other. You know lines are all recorded seperately for the english dub, so chemistry doesn't really apply. So obviously you mean familiarity with the role. After only two episodes I'd like to see anybody have the kind of familiarity you're talking about. Give it a couple or a few more episodes and that 'soul' you're talking about will be there.

"I hate Toonami and Adult Swim, they ruin every anime they show." Some girl said that in my store not that long ago, and I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Apparently the proliferation of anime in the states is a horrible thing. At least that's what it seems like when people needlessly rip into dubs.

This is probably good for me in the fact that I don't watch [AS].

I hate people like that. Not only do they air anime when it's not necessarily the thing that gets them the best ratings, they bring some of the better stuff here on TV. We should be pretty thankful.

In regard to the fight scenes, I gotta say that there was just something that oozed cool about the fight scene in the first episode of R.O.D. - the TV. Maybe because it was cool. >.> Great concept, great animation, great music in the background... just great. lol

But yeah, the Saito/Kenshin fight there was indeed amazing, also one of my favorites.

In regard to the Bleach dub - I like it. I was actually rather worried about how Mr. Bosch would pull off Ichigo, since he's a bit rougher than Vash and almost certainly than Albert in Gankutsuou (I haven't seen much of that show at all to know), but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm mostly just glad to see it's on Adult Swim with a good dub so lots of other people can enjoy the show, too.

To the guy who made the rant, F.U. (Fun Unniverstity) buddy. I didn't read the whole thing since I was extremely bored by your text after the intro, but I think you were referring to thread I started, which of course made it personal.

Now yes we were all getting upset over nothing because it was just a promo, but it was something. It was our first encounter with the dub. I'm almost positive that every single person who was seen the first 50+ episodes of Bleach subbed, did not like the voices one bit.

It was basically a first impression and we voiced our opinion. The rest of the topic was mostly people praising the dub, including me. I actually ended up changing my opinion after I watched the promo about 6 times.

I dunno the point to this post but I just thought your "Bleachatard" made you sound like a tard yourself and completely kept me from taking you seriously.

Well I'll be damned, I didn't think anyone else remembered and adored that Hellsing scene. Considering how amazing the Ultimate OVA second volume was I am allready bubble-wrapping my floor in preparation for the jawdropping that is bound to occur when that scene gets animated. spoiler[I also really look forward to Allucard's return with the ship and his last fight with Anderson, as those were a bit too crowded IMO in the manga and could be awsomized in the anime.]

Also, don't really see the point about Bleach, most of the response I've seen appears positive. Personally I was impressed that most VAs got into character right away, considering the lengh of the show they will probably have this stuff down pat by the time Soul Society rolls around making for an extremely enjoyable experience.

Bleach may even overtake Naruto down the line, as dub watchers have 3 seasons of god-awful filler to endure in a couple of years whilst Bleach has thus far stayed interesting even through its filler run.

Wrong.

That's really all I have to say, actually.

Edit, I actually have one more thing to say:

I didn't read the whole thing

What exactly were you unable to take seriously? You said yourself you didn't read anything but the intro...

Sorry, I'm a jerk...

Herb's certainly entitled to his opinions, but he should've drawn the line at calling those who prefer the original script "idiots". They're entitled to disapprove of the dub as much as he is entitled to approve of it.

Also, in fairness to the flake dude, Power Rangers is Japanese in origin, so at least he wasn't completely off the mark. >_>

Why do people who like dubs get so mad at those who don't? If you think dub haters are idiots, ignore them. All this constant whining from both sides of the argument is just getting annoying as hell.

I think Naruto's theme being in English is more of an exception to the rule than Bleach's being in Japanese. It seems to me that most dubs just keep the themes in Japanese; the only other dub I can think of offhand that put the theme(s) in English was Fruits Basket.

And Yu Yu Hakusho

FUNI used to dub a lot of their openings but they stopped doing that (mostly if not completely) recently.

They cut the OP and redubbed the ending in Crayon Shinchan's adult swim run.

It has something to do with the inherent problem that 99 percent of the people complaining about whatever English dub they come across don't speak Japanese on any level that would qualify them to judge the Japanese voices in any fashion.

So it's just a blind preference to whatever version you saw first rather than a legitimate love for a performance you can sincerely appreciate. It isn't really about understanding or appreciating the nuances and differences of the Japanese language, it's about claiming superiority because you saw it in Japanese first.

People who don't give dubs any sort of fair shake are deluding themselves into some bizarro superiority complex. A bad dub is a bad dub, but I'll be damned if the people who endlessly rip on any dub they come across know anything at all about performance or speak one whit of competent Japanese.
