Well, maybe they guesstimated the scanlation numbers and figured they wouldn't "lose" too many readers by just starting at the front rather than trying to update both ends at the same time. I've heard good things about Ajin and HLoArslan, and people here are pumped about Koe no Katachi. I'm hoping this will boost print sales rather than the reverse; most of their previous titles have been previously unlicensed, save Arpeggio of Blue Steel and maybe a couple others.
