Super excited about this. It might be a half a a year wait but I think it's nice to know that the show will return later. Akatsuki <3

half a year is actually pretty short by most standards of anime. the only one that i can recall that did it faster was Valvrave and thats just because it was intended that way.

Yeah, other than it already being planned as a split-cour series this is basically the quickest possible turnaround for a second season that we could have hoped for.

I'm really glad too, looking forward to more!

Excited for sure but definitely surprised. I didn't think there was enough material for a 2nd season.

As the article itself mentions, there's lots of spinoffs and even a spinoff web novel about a certain Debauchery Tea Party leader's post-Apocalypse adventure

Best news I could've woken up with. Now for my roommate to just wake up, so we can watch episode 25.

I wouldn't go so far as the fellow who hates the show, but I did find this surprisingly dull. I would have honestly prefered them just play this as a straight fantasy and drop the whole trapped in a video game.

i bet you also found maouyuu maou yuusha dull.

the whole being trapped in a video game played a big role in it (remember the whole memories thing? remember them also having the knowledge to make steamships and stuff like that? they played a role in the show).

this show was never meant to be action oriented like the mediocre sword art online that was out 2 years ago. this show was intended to do something that the .hack and sao lines failed miserably at. showing people actually DEALING with the issues that come with being trapped in an MMO (Establishing rules and order, counteracting PKing, and dealing with external threats).

Considering the first season is a Sentai "favorite", chances are, they'll license S2 as well.
And given that, if they do, it's pretty assured that it'll pop up on CR for simulcast.
