Robotech "Academy" eh?

"Alvin S. Tomy was just an ordinary student at Robotech Academy until one fateful day. While on his way to ==BID FOR NAMING RIGHTS=='s concert, the alien Vejarians suddenly appear and attack Alvin's hometown without warning. Alvin leaps into an abandoned Veritech fighter and rescues the adorable ==BID FOR NAMING RIGHTS==. But what is her connection to the Vejarians? Can Alvin defend the city, date pop stars, and still find time for homework?"

Good to hear that the subtitles are well done. I've been on the fence about this one. I liked Frontier but didn't love it. (The first three episodes were fantastic, then the series drags itself down in the middle before turning around for a decent-- if inconclusive--ending.) I'm sure the BDs for the movies look incredible and it'd be worth it for the eye candy alone.

I've got no connection to Carl, but have the utmost respect for everything he accomplished. I listen to his appearance on ANNcast every so often because he was a guy who had a lot to say. That being said, I don't support the idea of more Robotech. It seems pointless; we've all seen the wizard behind the curtain.

Bringing Carl Macek into every new project that HG does is just bad taste. The man has passed away and he had a career in the anime business that spanned much more than just Robotech. Robotech was not Carl Macek's life project. It was one of his projects, and that's it. The man did so much more over the course of several decades. And it's disgusting that the only way HG can find to sell its discutable "visions" of Robotech to the few fans it still has is to associate Carl Macek with it.

I still feel this whole project is a scam HG are trying on to get a wade of cash to pay off other debts. It smells like last week's fish dinner.

If they get the money they posted for, they will deliver on an episode length piece of work that has the same quality as Shadow Chronicles (aka something bad) every dollar vouched after the goal point is just idiots lining the pockets of HG.

Ugh. "Robotech". When will Macek's madness end? It outlives him, even. I remember the ANNCast interview when he claimed being "a story teller" and everybody was irate at me for sniping at that in the comments because they were so busy worshiping him.

There is no Robotech. No amount of "Oh, but they had to do it that way back then" is going to convince me Robotech is even worth talking about beyond a historical context.

Wow, talk about poking the hornet's nest.

Some people were pledging $1 just to get into the comments section and complain about Harmony Gold. So now Harmony Gold has created an official pledge level that's $1 more for arguing. I wonder if they will restrict comments from people who don't pledge for that level (I don't even know if they have that ability) or if it's just a catty response.

As for the people pledging 1$ to comment, well they're part of the problem since their contributions advance HG project. How silly.
