Everyone was like, "Chrom!" and I was like, "Rufure!"
I thought a magic user would be so interesting, but I didn't have my hopes up. And now... I am happy. |

Certainly not as a character in terms of persona, but as a character in terms of move sets....? As an avid player of Marth in Melee, I don't even need to see the trailer again to notice that at least some of her moves (counter, side-B, mid-air neutral A attack) resemble Marth's moves. It *could* be a skin, but considering how they went so far as to give her top billing in a trailer, this might be somewhat similar to the Roy/Marth clone situation of Melee. Or hey, maybe she'll be more unique than any of what I suggest up above. Hopefully. |

It is not a skin, guys. Seriously, it's been confirmed what she is (an independent, playable character) as clearly as possible. You can even see her own entry on the official site if you'd like.
As for Chrom, you can see him as part of Robin/Avatar's Final Smash, and that's how he'll participate in the game. It wasn't so much a 'hint' as a flat out reveal. |

It is my understanding that the team specifically said they wanted to avoid clone characters this game, and they've already done a heck of a lot to make that possible thus far. So I definitely see similarities, but I do not see them playing that similar.

Seems like Lucina will be a sort of clone of Marth like Roy was after all!
 Don't say I didn't warn you... though I didn't think my hunch would be confirmed so quickly.

Great to see more Fire Emblem characters, especially Lucina. Although, I'm really disappointed Chrom isn't playable. I really like his character in Awakening.
I may give Robin a few tries too. His moveset looks pretty diverse. |

Interesting interview here, talking about Robin and his/her moveset, why Lucina is a separate character, and why Chrom isn't playable.
I think the stuff about Lucina's playstyle mentioned earlier may be from this interview. |
