Are these manga "yuri" or are they shoujo-ai? I ask because the article calls them yuri but people tend to use the terms yuri and shoujo-ai interchangeably. I'm not so interested in yuri but if any of these titles are shoujo-ai, I'll definetly check them out. Strawberry Panic especially looks interesting.

This is awesome. I'll be getting at least one of these series quite possibly all three.
Well, yuri actually covers both pornographic and non-pornographic girl/girl relationships, although some fans choose to use shoujo ai specifically for the non-pornographic and yuri for the pornographic. I'm not familiar with Tetragrammaton Labyrinth, but Strawberry Panic isn't pornographic as far as I know and Saigo no Seifuku is not either, although that one deals with fairly young characters (may be considered loli). |

I can't help wondering how many people who are excited about these titles have purchased anything from ALC Publishing - the only all-yuri publisher in the world...

I'm not a huge yuri fan, but, being a guy, and based on principle alone, I say: good news and it's about time we had more yuri manga in the US

Creepy doesn't even begin to describe some of them. Yaoi has practically become a virus in the community, you can't go anywhere without being inundated by it. The pairings are freaking bizarre too, it's either brothers (Inuyasha and Sesshomaru  ) or two guys who want to kill each other in the anime/manga. (Spike and Viscious  )
How do I know this? Let's just say, you want to be REALLY careful when looking through fan art for a series. Even if they say it's all clean and "family friendly". Hopefully a good dose of yuri will help to rebalance the universe! Seven Seas Entertainment is definately getting my money with the Strawberry Panic! light novels and manga. (My dark powers continue to influence everyone!  ) Right now, I'm already commited to three manga titles from them and those novels. I'll also be giving both Tetragrammaton Labyrinth and Saigo no Seifuku a look.
My wallet is going to be anemic soon.
I can't read Japanese, so I stick to english language. Most of the titles they mention that are in english, I already have from other sources. Didn't really look like they license or publish much though. (I'd kill for an english release of the Burst Angel manga.) One way or another, having Seven Seas joining the extremely short list of sources for yuri can only be of benefit to us all. |
