Maybe you mean the American market in that case. Just because it was broadcasted first in the U.S. doesn't mean everyone in the Western (or the American and Japanese definition of it) could like it or hate it.

How does that change the fact that the western market is unimportant for the late-night tv anime market?

So true. Watching Cross Ange is like going back in time. When anime wasn't completely politically correct. When you could see people torn to shreds, have sex, consensual or not, even sex between adult and teen (Riding Bean anyone ? Although it's implied not shown). We need more anime like this, it's like a rejuvenating experience among all the bland moe-ness. Go Sunrise. Cool Cross Ange : So bad, so creepy, so violent so good.
