Is there any evidence the Rie Tanaka who works as works with Magic Capsule in sound production is actually the same as the voice actress? It seems like it was determined they were different at some point in the ANN Encyclopedia, though I only see this thread on it in the forums.

Would you like to add that Tanaka Rie (田中理恵), with the same Kanji name, is also an Olympic Gymnast?

Joke aside, it doesn't make any sense for someone to juggle full time job as an actor while working in another full time as an audio effects specialist.

It gave me high hopes for an episode showing us the sort of odd circumstances that cause something in the production to go horribly wrong, and lead a series to produce a clip show for air when it originally intended a regular episode.

It gave you a hope, and the episode delivered on that hope, and you still disliked the episode because you couldn't follow it? Well, okay then. I had no real issues following it personally, but I guess others aren't so fortunate.

Love this show and how they're making this about the entire production team instead of just focusing only on the girls from the high school club. Definitely much more bold and and difficult to accomplish but also much more rewarding when it all clicks together.

I was responding to the picture configspace posted, which claims they are the same. I am honestly skeptical of it too, though, which is why I'm curious if there is any evidence the picture maker was going on other than her kanji name being the same.

It's the Japanese fan who made that picture had a case of mistaken identity.

Speaking of mistake, this ANN entry slipped through the crack:

Tanaka Rie
Doraemon: Nobita no Kyoryu [2006] (movie) : Digital Paint (Studio Step)

Oh really? LOL

She still looks perky, wide-eyed and excited, no matter what.

This is what gets me about this anime and the needless theatrics with the main character. I'd really love this anime if the main character is bit more realistic. It also may be a good idea to hire one more assistant rather than letting her handle delivering and scheduling. I love the concept of the anime and I like all these behind the scenes but I guess I am too a little on the fence with how it is being portrayed.

Huh, I figured it would completely obvious why a brand new hire would be 'perky' in front of others. The youth are expected to be youthful, that's an expectation that is standard in the Japanese workplace. Notice that she only acts that way in front of others (in particular, her superiors). As soon as she is off on her own the act drops off and her real feelings show on her face: dread, fatigue, anxiety, etc.

It may be a good idea to hire another assistant Wrathful, but that's not these sort of things work in Japan. They would rather you work 60+ hours a week. So that would be way too unrealistic. Besides, Aoi's load seems to be relatively light. As seen in the episode, so far she has only shown to be responsible for overseeing the production of episodes 4 and 9.

Just so you know, Goth Loli-sama is also based on real person.

"and didn't keep sacrificing that on the altar of moe fanservice."

Oh, please. Sound like a broken record.

Exactly, there has been very little "moe fanservice" ever since prologue ended. The whole series has been reflecting on the eager dreams that the 5 had in high school with the crushing blow of reality. The voice actress has no voice work and is instead working at a restaurant. The 3D CGI artist doesn't seem to be working in the anime industry yet and looks melancholy at any glance we see her. I don't think we've even seen the writer girl since the prologue since I believe she was the youngest in the club so is probably still in college. And Aoi and Ema are both shown to be finding themselves overwhelmed and feeling somewhat incapable of performing their duties. Hell, episode 3 alone had Aoi mentally break down and try to lose her thoughts by repeatedly washing the cup she was using.

Of course, the review mentions none of this occurring, I wonder why that is? Does the reviewer just simply miss it? Did Rose just completely miss that the show dropped its cutesy K-ON act immediately after the prologue ended?

Exactly. It's why I said broken record though. I've read this/seen it before in other reviews where it makes me go "what?"

What the... the moe element is hardly even there. The animators are fans of anime and they showcase their fandom in natural ways when they aren't swamped with work. The everyday, light stuff in the story is actually poignant because they are still trying to have fun outside the stress of actual animation.

And 'self insert' as a terminology needs to die. It seems people throw that out for no good reason.

How about a review that's a bit more open-minded or accepting and proceeds to make other, possibly, legitimate criticisms? Even if there is "moe" and "fanservice" throwing around the terms or misusing it will get you nowhere. Heck, it's not even a negative everytime.
